Notes on Phillies and former Phillies participating in winter leagues.
Dominican Winter League :
1/12/25 action : Johan Rojas (CF) went 1 for 4 with a triple, run scored and RBI for Tigres del Licey (8-2) in a 5-4 round robin playoff win over Estrellas Orientales (5-5). Former Phillies minor league LHP Elniery Garcia pitched 2.1 scoreless innings (3 H) for the Tigres. The Leones del Escogido (6-4) defeated the Aguilas Cibaeñas (1-9) 9-0 in the other playoff game of the day.
Puerto Rico Winter League :
Es1/12/25 action : RHP Carlos Francisco pitched a scoreless inning (1 BB, 2 K’s) for the Indios de Mayaguez in a 5-4 playoff win against the Criollos de Caguas. The Indios now lead the best of seven series 3-2. Former Phillies minor league RHP Julian Garcia was outstanding for the Senadoros de San Juan pitching six scoreless frames (1 H, 1 BB, 5 K’s) to lead them to a 2-0 ten inning win over the Cangrejeros de Santurce and a 4-1 semi-final series victory advancing San Juan to the league championship series. The San Juan franchise returned to the league this season after a ten year absence.
Mexican Pacific League :
1/12/25 action : the Tomateros de Culiacán evened their semi-final playoff series at one win apiece with a 3-0 victory against the Cañeros de Los Mochis. The Naranjeros de Hermosillo also evened their semi-final playoff series with the Charros de Jalisco at one victory each with a 5-2 win.
Colombia Winter League :
1/12/25 action : the Vaqueros de Monteria defeated the Caimanes de Barranquilla 5-3 in the first game of the championship series. Felix Reyes (3B) was 0 for 3 in the game for the Caimanes.
Venezuela Winter League :
1/12/25 action : the Cardenales de Lara (9-3) defeated the Navegantes del Magallanes (5-7) 4-3 in round robin playoff play. The Tigres de Aragua (4-8) defeated the Aguilas del Zulia (5-7) 6-0 in the other playoff game of the day.
Nicaragua Winter League :
1/12/25 action : the Leones de Leon defeated the Tren del Norte 13-3 to extend the championship series to at least a game six - the Tren lead the series 3-2.
Australian Winter League :
League play resumes 1/15/25.
Panama Winter League :
The season is complete - the Águilas Metropolitanas were crowned champions.
