The Phillies released RHP Chi-Ling Hsu on January 7th. The 21 year old from Taiwan was signed by the Phillies in July of 2018. Best wishes to him in his future endeavors.
The club has signed RHP Nick Duron to a minor league contract. The soon to be 26 year old ( birthdate is 1/30 ) pitched in the Seattle Mariners organization last season as a reliever appearing in 38 games at the AA and AAA levels. He had an overall ERA of 4.50 in 42 IP. Duron generally sits in the 92-95 range with his fastball and has both a curve and slider as secondary offerings. He was the 31st round draft selection of the Boston Red Sox in the 2015 draft from Clark Community College in Vancouver, Washington and was a 2021 big league spring training invite of the Mariners.
1B/OF Joey Meneses has signed a minor league contract with the Washington Nationals. He was the International League MVP when he played for the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs in 2018, last season he was in the Red Sox organization.
