In my opinion one of the coolest things that the Phillies organization does and one of its greatest programs is teaching their young ballplayers as well as staff members at the Dominican Academy life and education skills. There is a dedicated teaching staff to deliver to them a high school education if they choose to participate along with the ability to navigate life both while at the Academy and abroad. If players are selected to continue their baseball careers stateside the education process continues at the Carpenter Complex and in classrooms at Clearwater to help them adapt to life in the United States. It’s a program that has tremendous impact and success - really good stuff!

Today at 11 AM at the Phillies Academy in Boca Chica thirteen players and one staff member were celebrated with a graduation ceremony and awarded their diplomas. The list of graduates is as follows :

Jaeden Calderon

Edwin Castillo

Joshue De La Cruz

Fernando De los Santos (staff member)

Aroon Escobar

Adrian Garcia

Claudio Gatier

Jorge Julio

Angel Mata

Jerffson Peña

Julio Polanco

Pedro Peralta

Isaac Ramirez

Saul Teran

In addition to the leadership, managers, coaches players and staff that are based in the Dominican Phillies stateside dignitaries such as Manager of Life Skills and Education Colleen Mitchell, Lead Teacher of Life Skills Paola Mora, Lead Teacher - Education Isabela Karay, General Manager Preston Mattingly, Player Development Director Luke Murton, Assistant Director of Player Development Edwin Soto and Director of International Operations Ray Robles were in attendance.

Colleen Mitchell congratulated the graduates in her opening speech. Edwin Soto delivered the keynote address and Joshue De La Cruz delivered the graduate speech (he did it both in Spanish and English). Preston Mattingly delivered the leadership address in Spanish (very impressive!). Ray Robles did the honor of giving the oath during the turning of the tassles ceremony. Enfrin Benitez ( DR Academy Coordinator of Life Skills & Education) served as the emcee for the event.

A great day of celebration at the Dominican Academy.  Our sincere congratulations to all of the graduates!  For those I haven’t met yet I hope to someday - you all should be very proud on this significant accomplishment!

Happy Day, Happy Baseball ⚾️
