The Arizona Fall League :
Infielder Otto Kemp hit two home runs for Glendale in last night’s game and posted four RBIs - he played 3B defensively but has already also seen time at 1B and LF. LHP Wesley Moore threw a scoreless inning in relief in the 19-9 victory striking out two batters. Outfielder Gabriel Rincones Jr scored twice and had two RBIs. LHP Tristan Garnett has made two appearances and tossed two scoreless frames, RHP Griff McGarry started a game and pitched two scoreless innings. As everyone knows RHP Andrew Painter has started a game and thrown two innings. All but RHP Wen Hui Pan have appeared in a game - the Phillies have ten players on the roster.
Premiere 12 World Baseball Tournament :
Outfielder Justin Crawford will play for Team USA in the 12 team world tournament. The opening round will begin on November 9 in Mexico and on November 13 in Japan and Taiwan. “The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super Round, which will be played at the Tokyo Dome in Japan, where the medal games will also be played.” - WBSC. This is the third iteration of the tournament - the first was in 2015 followed by the second in 2019 - Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm played for Team USA in the 2019 tournament.
The Dominican Winter League :
Shortstop Starlyn Caba is on the pre-season roster of Tigres del Licey and has been participating in practices with the club. The league begins play on October 16th. Caba is just eighteen years old but is already a standout defender. Outfielder Raylin Heredia is playing for Gigantes del Cibao.
The Venezuela Winter League :
The league has begun play.
Current Phillies Catcher Andrick Nava is on the Aguilas del Zulia roster. RHP Saul Teran in pitching for Caribes de Anzoategui.
Former Phillies RHP Carlos Betancourt is on the Aguilas del Zulia roster as is outfielder Simon Muzziotti. Catcher Wilson Ramos is playing for Bravos de Margarita. RHP Geoff Broussard and RHP Max Castillo are playing for Cardenales de Lara. Utility player Willians Astudillo and LHP Rafael Marcano are playing for Caribes de Anzoategui. First baseman Aldrem Corredor and outfielders Carlos Tocci and Danny Ortiz are on the Leones del Caracas roster. LHP Elvis Araujo and 1B Wilson Garcia along with outfielder Yhoswar Garcia, second baseman Cesar Hernandez and RHP Jonathan Petit are playing for Tiburones de La Guaira.
The Mexican Winter League :
The league began play on 10/11/24.
Former Phillies minor league RHP Efrain Contreras and INF Esteban Quiroz are on the Tomateros de Culiacan roster. LHP JP Woodward is on the Venados de Mazatlan roster. RHP’s Fernando Salas and Robert Stock are on the Naranjeros de Hermosillo roster. Outfielder Dustin Peterson is playing for Sultanes de Monterrey. Infielder Jonathan Arauz is on the Yaquis de Obregon roster. Catcher Sebastian Valle is playing for Charros de Jalisco. Free agent RHP Alan Rangel is on the roster of Naranjeros de Hermosillo.
Puerto Rico Winter League : opens on 11/3/24
Australian Baseball League is slated to begin on November 15th - the Phillies will have players on the two time defending champions Adelaide Giants including LHP Lachlan Wells, infielder Nickau Pouaka-Grego, RHP Mitch Nuenborn and RHP Estibenzon Jimenez - others to be announced soon. Former Phillies player Curtis Mead, Rixon Wingrove and Nick Ward are all slated to return to Adelaide for the upcoming season.
At the Complexes :
There will be a High Performance Camps beginning on 10/20/24 at Carpenter Complex in Clearwater.
