Notes on Phillies and former Phillies participating in winter leagues or off-season tournaments.
Dominican Winter League :
Former Phillies infielder Jean Segura went 4 for 5 with three singles and a grand slam home run for Leones del Escogido in a 13-8 loss to Aguilas Cibaeñas. Free agent RHP Robinson Pina pitched four innings (1 R, 5 H, 1 BB, 5 K’s) for Estrellas Orientales in a 2-0 loss to Tigres del Licey. Robinson pitched for Reading and Lehigh Valley this past summer.
Mexican Winter League :
Former Phillies minor league first baseman Kyle Martin went 2 for 4 (single, double) with two RBIs for Cañeros de Los Mochis in a 2-1 win against Mayos de Navojoa. Former Phillies minor league infielder Jorge Flores went 4 for 4 (three singles & double) for Algodoneros de Guasave in a 4-0 win against Naranjeros de Hermosillo.
Venezuela Winter League :
Former Phillies outfielder Odubel Herrera went 2 for 3 (singles) with a walk for Tigres de Aragua in an 8-2 loss to Leones del Caracas. Former Phillies minor league infielder Ali Castillo was 3 for 5 (single, two doubles and a walk) for Aguilas del Zulia in a 9-8 win over Tiburones de La Guaira. Current Phillies minor league RHP Saul Teran opened for Caribes de Anzoategui and pitched 2/3 of an inning (1 R, 1 H, 1 BB) in a 3-2 win over Cardenales de Lara.
Premiere 12 Tournament :
RHP Mitch Neunborn started and pitched 1.2 innings (2 R, 1 H, 3 BB - 42 pitches - 22 strikes) for Team Australia in a 11-3 loss to Team Taipae. Former Phillies minor league first baseman Rixon Wingrove was 2 for 4 (singles) in the game for Team Australia. Rixon also hit a double in a 5-2 loss to Team Korea. Team Japan (4-0) has earned advancement from Pool B to the Super Round with either Team Taipae (3-1) or Team Korea (3-2) also advancing. Team Venezuela (4-1) and Team USA (3-2) advanced to the Super Round from Pool A.
