Team USA (1-2) defeated Team Venezuela (1-2) 6-5. Center fielder Justin Crawford was 0 for 4 in the contest. Former Phillies minor league outfielder Herlis Rodriquez went 1 for 3 with an RBI for Team Venezuela.
Australian Baseball League :
11/22/24 action :
The Phillies contingent plays for the Adelaide Giants.
Adelaide (3-4) swept a doubleheader from Canberra (3-4)
Game One : Adelaide 3 Canberra 2 (8 innings)
Former Phillies minor league first baseman Rixon Wingrove hit a walk off home run in the eighth inning in a game originally scheduled for seven innings of play. Rixon also walked earlier in the game and scored twice - he was 1 for 3 overall. Third baseman Trent Farquhar went 2 for 3 (singles) with a walk and run scored out of the lead off spot in the order. Catcher Lou Albrecht and second baseman Nikau Pouaka-Grego were both 1 for 3 with singles.
Game Two : Adelaide 11 Canberra 4
Rixon Wingrove went 2 for 4 (singles) with a walk, RBI and two runs scored. Third baseman Trent Farquhar was 1 for 6 (single) leading off with a run scored. Former Phillies minor league infielder Nick Ward walked once and had a sacrifice fly RBI in five plate appearances. Catcher Luis Caicuto was 1 for 5 (single) with an RBI and run scored.
In other action former Phillies minor leaguer Robbie Glendinning went 4 for 8 with two singles and two doubles in a doubleheader for Melbourne as they swept Brisbane.
Dominican Winter League :
11/22/24 action :
Former Phillies minor league RHP Ulises Joaquin pitched two scoreless innings (2 H, 1 BB, 1 K) in relief for Tigres del Licey in a 6-2 loss to Estrellas Orientales.
Puerto Rico Winter League :
11/22/24 action :
Former Phillies minor league outfielder Danny Ortiz was 2 for 4 with 3 RBIs and a runs scored for Indios De Mayaguez in a 6-5 win over Cangrejeros De Santurce.
Venezuela Winter League :
11/22/24 action :
Former Phillies minor league infielder Ali Castillo went 4 for 5 (singles) with a run scored and RBI leading off for Aguilas del Zulia in a 10-6 loss to Bravos de Margarita. Current Phillies minor league outfielder Leandro Pineda went 0 for 1 in a pinch hitting appearance for Navegantes del Magallanes in a 9-5 loss to Tiburones de La Guaira. Current Phillies minor league RHP Saul Teran pitched a scoreless inning (1 H, 3 K’s) in relief for Caribes de Anzoategui in a 12-7 win against Cardenales de Lara.
Other Notes :
RHP Carson Ragsdale was added to the San Francisco Giants 40 man roster, he was the Phillies 4th round selection in the 2020 draft. Along with RHP Mick Abel (1st round Phillies draft pick in 2020) who was added to the Phillies 40 man roster two of the four Phillies draft picks in the abbreviated five round 2020 draft have now made it to major league 40 man rosters. Good stuff from Mr. Barber’s first draft class!
The High Performance Camps concluded yesterday at the complexes - they had a an ice cream truck on hand at Carpenter Complex (I didn’t get invited to partake 🤦♂️) - no more scheduled team workouts or practices can take place from now till 2025 due to the minor league agreed upon blackout period in the CBA. The Phillies group will return 1/12/25 for High Performance Camp #2 of the off-season. I thank all those who work at the Carpenter Complex in Clearwater for your professionalism and consideration in doing your work - will see ya in January!
