The 20 year old from Hualien, Taiwan has been promoted from the Player Development Center to the Clearwater Threshers in advance of tonight’s game and will wear uniform number 38.
He recently threw in a simulated game on Tuesday on Ashburn Field - here were my notes - Wen Hui Pan was very sharp today, the stuff is for real, fastball has both movement and velocity, slider has tilt and quick break, even a few splitters today that sunk. The key was he threw all of them for strikes, if he does that consistently the club has yet another power arm that could very well impact the highest level of play in the future.
Pan now joins a full season roster and gets a chance to show in an actual minor league game.
To make room for him on the roster RHP Jean Cabrera was transferred to the development list.
