4/14/25 : Phillies promote two from Dominican Academy

Two seventeen year old position players have been promoted stateside from the Phillies Dominican Academy to participate in extended spring training at Carpenter Complex - both will also participate in the Florida Complex League in May.
Catcher/Infielder Francisco Loreto is from Maracay, Venezuela and signed with the Phillies on 1/15/24 - last summer he played in 30 games for the DSL Phillies White roster and posted a .238/.358/.322 slash line in 106 plate appearances with 3 doubles, a triple, home run and 11 RBIs - he walked 12 times and stole 7 bases in 11 attempts. Francisco is a right handed hitter who turns 18 on June 21st. Defensively last season he appeared in eleven games as a catcher and one at second base.
Infielder Meylin De Leon was signed on 1/15/24 and played both second and third base last season for the Phillies Red roster. He garnered 177 plate appearances and posted a .252/.350/.318 slash line in 48 games. Meylin had 8 doubles, a triple, 14 RBIs and 20 walks. He’s from Azua, Dominican Republic and turns 18 on April 21st. Meylin is a right handed hitter.
