AAA - Charlotte 6 (11-13) Lehigh Valley 4 (10-12) - ten innings

Allentown, PA - Coca-Cola Park


Summary :


Weston Wilson walked in the second inning, went to second on a bunt by Scott Kingery and scored on a double by Cal Stevenson.


A walk, balk and single scored a 6th inning run for Charlotte.  A double, single and balk scored two more.


Three walks and a fielding error scored a Charlotte run in the seventh.


Cal Stevenson and Matt Kroon walked in the seventh, Jordan Luplow singled.  Kody Clemens walked to score a run.  Aramis Garcia and Darick Hall each walked to score two more.


Charlotte scored the placed runner with a triple in the 10th, a sacrifice fly scored another.


At Bat : 4 R, 5 H, 10 BB, 12 K’s


Jordan Luplow had four hits (three singles & double).  Cal Stevenson doubled.  Darick Hall walked three times (one intentional) and Weston Wilson each walked twice.


On The Hill : 6 R,  7 H, 10 BB, 14 K’s


Michael Mercado started and pitched 3.2 innings,  0 R, 0 H, 1 BB, 4 K’s - 48 pitches - 29 strikes - 73 % four seamers - 93-97 mph, cutter (21 %), curve, change up.  Zac Houston pitched 1/3 of an inning, 0 R, 0 H, 2 BB, 1 K.  Kolby Allard pitched two innings - 3 R, 5 H, 1 BB, 4 K’s.  Tyler McKay pitched 1.2 innings, 1 unearned R, 0 H, 4 BB, 1 K.  Andrew Bellatti pitched 1/3 of an inning, 0 R, 0 H, 2 BB, 1 K.   Ryan Burr pitched an inning, 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 3 K’s.  Griff McGarry pitched an inning - 2 R - 1 earned, 1 H, 0 BB, 0 K’s.

Summary :


Two doubles, an error, triple and single scored four first inning runs for Somerset.


Ethan Wilson reached on an error in the bottom of the first and scored on a double by Carson Taylor.


Somerset scored a run in the third on a single, error and ground out.  Augustin Ramirez hit a two run home run for them in the fourth inning - two singles, an error and double scored three more.


Grant Richardson homered for Somerset in the 8th inning.  Three doubles scored two more runs.


Marcus Lee Sang tripled in the ninth inning and scored on a wild pitch.


On The Hill :  13 R, 16 H, 9 BB, 10 K’s


Matt Osterberg started and pitched 3.1 innings - 10 R - 8 earned, 10 H, 3 BB, 0 K’s.  Konnor Ash pitched 2.2 innings, 0 R, 1 H, 3 BB, 5 K’s.  Mitch Neunborn  pitched 1.1 innings, 3 R, 5 H, 1 BB, 2 K’s.  Carlos Francisco pitched 1.2 innings, 0 R, 0 H, 2 BB, 3 K’s.


At Bat : 2 R, 5 H, 2 BB, 13 K’s


Marcus Lee Sang had two hits (single & triple). Carson Taylor doubled.  Caleb Ricketts walked twice.

Robinson Rolling - Robinson Pina stayed hot Thursday night with his second-straight win. He tossed a season-high six innings, which also marked the longest start by a Fightin Phils pitcher this season. Summary :


An error, wild pitch and ground out scored a run for Aberdeen in the second inning.  Creed Willems hit a three run home run for them in the fourth inning.  A single, two stolen bases and wild pitch scored a run for them in the seventh.

Estibenzon Jimenez pitched five innings, 4 R - 3 earned, 5 H, 0 BB, 5 K’s - 84 pitches - 53 strikes.  Danny Wilkinson pitched a scoreless inning - 1 H, 0 BB, 3 K’s.  Jack Dallas pitched an inning - 1 R,  1 H, 0 BB, 1 K.  Gunner Mayer pitched an inning, 0 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 1 K.

Felix Reyes had two hits (singles) and a walk.  Erick Brito doubled.

Coming into tonight’s game Justin Crawford has hit safely in 11 straight games over which he is 17-42.  It’s the first 10-game hitting streak for the BlueClaws since Hao-Yu Lee had one through July 3rd last year. A scoreless tie was broken by Bradenton’s P.J. Hilson when he hit an 8th inning home run.

George Klassen was once again dominant - 6 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 8 K’s - 78 pitches - 52 strikes - 51 % four seamers - 94 to 99 mph, 33 % curves, 15 % cutters.  He’s now pitched 21 innings in four starts, 1 unearned R, 32 K’s,  5 BB 😳🔥.  Andrew Schultz pitched a perfect inning - 3 K’s - fastball - 96-97 mph, cutter.  Chase Hopewell pitched two innings, 1 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 2 K’s.


Defensive Gem :


Second baseman Bryson Ware made a running stop on a grounder up the middle, a blind flip to shortstop Trent Farquhar who caught it barehanded and made a tag of the bag, pivot and throw to complete a spectacular 4-6-3 inning ending double play in the top of the ninth!
