4/30/23 : Minor League Roundup


International League (AAA) - Jacksonville 5 (13-12)  Lehigh Valley 1 (12-14)

Jacksonville, FL - 121 Financial Park


Summary :


Jacksonville loaded the bases in the third inning on two walks and a single, Peyton Burdick singled to score a run. Two more walks scored two runs.


Aramis Garcia homered in the fifth inning.


Peyton Burdick walked to lead off the 5th, went to second on a double by Charles Leblanc and scored on a sac fly.  Leblanc scored on two consecutive wild pitches.


The Iron Pigs loaded the bases in the 8th inning but could not score.


On the Hill :


Christopher Sanchez went four plus innings (two hitters in 5th) battling control today with 7 walks, also was touched for 5 hits. Francisco Morales pitched in and out of trouble in his one inning of work.  James McArthur went 2 2/3 scoreless innings allowing three hits and no walks, he struck out three batters.  Jeff Hoffman posted a strikeout hitting 99 mph with his fastball after walking two batters.  The Iron Pigs walked eleven batters in the game.


At the Bat :


Aramis Garcia had two hits (single & HR).  Simon Muzziotti had two singles.

South Atlantic League (High A) -  Brooklyn (6-11) Jersey Shore (8-9) - PPD - Rain

Florida State League (Low A)  Clearwater 9 (15-6) St Lucie 5 (5-16)

Clearwater, FL - BayCare Ballpark


Summary :


St Lucie scored two runs in the first inning, they loaded the bases on a double (Blaine McIntosh) and two walks.  A ground out scored the first run and a single by Kevin Villavicencio scored the second.


Ricardo Rosario singled in the bottom of the first inning, stole second base and scored on a single by Caleb Ricketts.  Gabriel Rincones Jr reached on an error, Chad Castillo singled to score Ricketts and send Rincones Jr to third base.  A double steal scored Rincones Jr and sent Castillo to third (throwing error on play at second base).  Jordan Viars grounded out to score Castillo.


In the second inning Emaarion Boyd walked, stole second and scored on a single by Caleb Ricketts. Gabriel Rincones Jr hit a two run home run.


Junior Tillien hit a two run home run for St Lucie in the 5th inning.


Jordan Viars was hit by a pitch in the fifth inning and advanced to third on a catcher’s interference call and ground out.  He scored on a fielder’s choice.


Jordan Viars doubled in the seventh inning, went to third on a single by Freylin Minyety and scored on a sac fly/E9 by Erick Brito.


The Mets scored a run in the ninth inning on a walk, fielding error and a couple of wild pitches.


On the Hill :


Braeden Fausnaught started but left the game in the top of the second inning with an apparent shoulder injury.  Jonh Henriquez came in to replace Fausnaught, he pitched 3 2/3 innings  - gets great movement on his pitches, spinning the four seamer between 2300 and 2450 RPM’s with a velocity range of 92 to 94 mph. He also threw a cutter, slider and changeup. Henriquez allowed two runs on four hits, he walked none and struck out seven batters.  Jack Dallas pitched two scoreless innings. Wesley Moore finished it with two innings of work.


At the Bat :


Chad Castillo had three hits (singles), scored a run and knocked in another. Caleb Ricketts and Ricardo Rosario each had two singles, Ricketts had two RBIs.  Gabriel Rincones Jr homered and had two RBIs, he also walked and scored twice.  Jordan Viars extended his hitting streak to six games with a double. Freylin Minyety singled to extend his hitting streak to eight games.


The Threshers stole seven bases in the game. Two each for Ricardo Rosario, Gabriel Rincones Jr and Chad Castillo.  Emaarion Boyd stole his Florida Sate League leading 14th base of the season.
