International League ( AAA ) - Lehigh Valley 10 (6-2) Rochester 1 (2-5)

Scoring Summary :


Otto Kemp singled in the first inning, advanced to second on a ground out and scored when Buddy Kennedy reached on an infield single, there also was a throwing error on the play allowing Kemp to score and Kennedy to advance to second base.  Garrett Stubbs singled to score Kennedy.


In the third inning Otto Kemp led off with a home run.  Buddy Kennedy, Garrett Stubbs and Oscar Mercado each singled to load the bases. Cal Stevenson hit a sacrifice fly to score Kennedy.  Christian Arroyo doubled to score two runs.


Gabriel Rincones Jr walked in the fourth inning, Buddy Kennedy singled. Garrett Stubbs doubled to score two runs. Oscar Mercado singled to score Stubbs.


Christian Arroyo led off the seventh inning with a home run.


At Bat : 10 R, 14 H, 4 BB, 8 K’s


Buddy Kennedy, Garrett Stubbs and Oscar Mercado each had three hits.  Otto Kemp had two hits (single & home run).  Christian Arroyo also had three hits (single,  double & HR) and three RBIs. Stubbs doubled and had three RBIs. Kennedy also walked once.


On The Hill : 1 R, 5 H, 1 BB, 11 K’s


RH Mick Abel - 6 IP, 0 R, 4 H, 0 BB, 7 K’s - 89 pitches - 59 strikes - Excellent outing  - Very happy for him - pitch sequence was great - slider was swing & miss and fastball velocity was consistent throughout. Also had great command and control (no walks) - looked like he and Mr Stubbs were in synch, they worked great together.  Top notch performance - FB 93-97 mph, slider (28 pitches), curve, change up and sinker.


RH Max Lazar - 1 IP, 1 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 1 K - 18 pitches - 9 strikes

RH Brett de Geus - 1 perfect IP - 2 K’s - 12 pitches - 8 strikes

RH Devin Sweet - 1 perfect IP - 2 K’s - 9 pitches - 8 strikes

THE 6IX: The sixth inning has been the ‘Pigs playground this season, where they’ve outscored opponents 11-0. While the sixth has been good to the ‘Pigs, they’ve been outscored 12-0 in the ninth. Strangely, no runs have been scored in the 2nd inning of a ‘Pigs game this season.

Four singles and a fielding error by right fielder Leandro Pineda resulted in three runs for Portland in the second inning.


A walk, stolen base and fielding error by third baseman Luis Verdugo posted a run for Portland in the third inning.


Paul McIntosh hit a two run home run in the bottom of the fourth inning scoring Luis Verdugo (walked) ahead of him.


A walk, single and wild pitch scored a run for Portland in the fifth inning.


Two walks and a double  scored two runs for Portland in the seventh inning.


Robert Moore and Leandro Pineda walked in the eighth inning, Keaton Anthony singled to score a run. Luis Verdugo walked. Paul McIntosh hit a sacrifice fly to score a run.

Breaking Down the Roster : Of the 28 active players on the Fightin Phils initial roster, 21 of them have previously suited up for the R-Phils (20 in 2024). Marcus Lee Sang, Robert Moore, Caleb Ricketts and Griff McGarry enter 2025 as the longest-tenured Reading players. A triple and sacrifice fly scored a run for Hudson Valley in the first inning.  A double and single scored a second run.


Jordan Viars walked in the third inning, Bryan Rincon singled and Carson DeMartini was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Devin Saltiban hit a sacrifice fly to score a run. A double steal scored a second run (Rincon home & DeMartini second base).


A walk and two singles scored a run for Hudson Valley in the third inning.


A triple and a single scored a run for Hudson Valley in the fourth inning.


Bryan Rincon doubled in the fifth inning. A passed ball moved him to third base. Carson DeMartini walked and stole second base.  A strikeout passed ball allowed both runners to score.


Antonio Gomez homered for Hudson Valley in the bottom of the fifth.


Bryan Rincon singled in the seventh inning, stole second and third base then scored on a throwing error by the HV catcher.


Eduardo Lopez and Bryson Ware walked in the eighth inning.  Luke Davis singled to score a run.  Zach Arnold hit a sacrifice fly to score another run.


Hudson Valley loaded the bases in thr bottom of the ninth on a walk, single to left field and bunt single (was fielded and thrown to first but the runner was called safe - replay showed he was out).  A single to right field then scored three runs for the walk off win for HV.


On The Hill : 8 R, 13 H, 8 BB, 9 K’s


RH Alex McFarlane - 2.2 IP, 3 R, 5 H, 3 BB, 2 K’s - 58 pitches - 33 strikes

RH Brandon Beckel - 1.1 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 2 BB, 2 K’s - 33 pitches - 20 strikes

RH Luke Russo - 4 IP, 1 R, 3 H, 2 BB, 5 K’s - 65 pitches - 42 strikes

RH Ethan Chenault - faced four batters - recoded no outs - 3 R, 3 H, 1 BB - 13 pitches - 6 strikes

Bryan Rincon had three hits (two singles & double) and scored three runs. Rincon, Devin Saltiban and Carson DeMartini each stole two bases. DeMartini walked three times.
