It’s rare to witness a professional no-hitter at any level but today I was fortunate to be on hand to see just that. Nineteen year old right hander Enrique Segura - 6 IP, twenty year old right hander Adilson Peralta - 2 IP and twenty year old right hander Josbel Garcia - 1 IP combined to pitch a nine inning - no run - no hit gem on Roberts Field!
The Phillies scored in the first inning as Aroon Escobar doubled and crossed the plate on a single from Guillermo Rosario.
Jorge Mendez hit a home run in the second inning.
Aroon Escobar and Jerffson Peña walked in the sixth - they both scored on a triple by Juan Villavicencio.
Starlyn Caba doubled in the seventh and scored on a single by Aroon Escobar.
On The Hill : 0 R, 0 H, 5 BB, 11 K’s
Enrique Segura started and pitched six innings - 0 R, 0 H, 4 BB, 5 K’s. When Enrique commands the zone he has Nola like stuff that creates weak contact - he also has put-away pitches - both his fastball and secondaries - was on today will all. Runners reached scoring position only twice against him. Adilson Peralta pitched two innings - 0 R, 0 H, 1 BB, 4 K’s - he faced 8 batters - good crisp fastball offset by what I believe was a change up - had hitters wailing. Josbel Garcia commanded the strike zone and threw a perfect ninth inning - 2 K’s - he was calm, cool and composed - great job! Catcher Jorge Mendez caught the entire game - he was outstanding - even hit a dinger!

Starlyn Caba hit two doubles, one down the right field line and the other down the left field line. Aroon Escobar had two hits (single & double), a walk, two runs scored and an RBI. Juan Villavicencio tripled and Jorge Mendez homered.
