The Dominican Summer League season begins tomorrow -6/3/24. Last year there were 50 teams in the league as multiple organizations fielded two clubs. The Phillies will once again have two teams, Phillies Red and Phillies White. This season there is a limit as to the number of players an organization may have - players must be assigned to a roster with a 35 player limit per team (the Phillies with two teams can employ 70 players).
The Phillies Red squad will be managed by Nerluis Martinez with a coaching staff of Samuel Hiciano (bench coach), Alex Concepcion (pitching coach), Carlos Hernandez (assistant pitching coach), Uziel Viloria (hitting development coach), Argelis Perez(athletic trainer), Marissa VanHassel (athletic trainer), Noel Almonte (strength and conditioning coach) and Andrea Ibarra (strength and conditioning coach).
The Phillies White team will be managed by Waner Santana with a coaching staff of Lester Straker (pitching coach), Manny Martinez (hitting coach), Felix Castillo (position coach), Jose Betancourt (athletic trainer), Carly McQuain (physical therapist) and Manuel Javier (strength and conditioning coach).

RH Julio Polanco - upper velocity range this spring - 90-94 mph - 6’3” 17 year old - signed 1/15/24 - Dominican Republic.
RH Pedro Peralta - upper velocity range this spring - 90-95 mph - 5’11” 17 year old - signed 1/15/23 - Dominican Republic.
RH Joel Heredia - upper velocity range this spring - 92-96 mph - 6’6” 20 year old - signed 7/29/22 - Dominican Republic.
RH Alexander De Los Santos - upper velocity range this spring - 92-95 mph - 6’1” 17 year old - signed 1/15/23 - Dominican Republic.
RH Rene Yrish - upper velocity range this spring - 94-97 mph - 6’1” 17 year old - signed 1/15/24 - Dominican Republic.
RH Darling Reyes - upper velocity range this spring - 92-97 mph - 6’1” 19 year old - signed 3/13/24 - Dominican Republic.
RH Enderson Jean - upper velocity range this spring - 93-96 mph - 6’3” 19 year old - signed 3/12/23 - Dominican Republic.
LH Raymon Rosario - upper velocity range this spring - 90-92 mph - 6’2” 18 year old - signed 6/13/23 - Dominican Republic.
RH Orlando Gonzalez - upper velocity range this spring - 92-95 mph - 6’1” 21 year old - signed 8/1/23 - Mexico.
Catchers :
Anderson Navas - 17 years old - signed 1/15/24 - 6’4” - Venezuela - RH hitter - noted for outstanding arm - throwing ability is considered elite on scouting scales. Power hitter with excellent athletic skills.
Alirio Ferrebus - 18 years old - signed 1/15/23 - 6’2” - Venezuela - RH hitter - posted a .339/.453/.435 slash line last season for Phillies Red in 21 games (75 PA’s) with 3 doubles, a HR and 9 RBIs - had a solid ‘24 spring going 8 for 20 with a couple home runs in this year’s games I tracked.
Cesar Mujica - 17 years old - signed 1/15/24 - 6’2” - Venezuela- RH hitter - noted for leadership skills - solid hit tools and power.
Infielders :
Jose Familia - 16 years old - signed 1/15/24 - 6’2” - Dominican Republic - LH hitter - noted for bat speed - shortstop on defense.
Maylerson Casanova - 17 years old - signed 1/15/24 - 5’11” - Dominican Republic - switch hitter - noted for athleticism & gap power - will play shortstop defensively.
Outfielders :
Jalvin Arias - 17 years old - signed 1/15/24 - 6’2” - Dominican Republic - RH hitter - noted for plus raw power & strong build.
Nathan Cijntje - 17 years old - signed 1/15/24 - 5’9” - Curacao- RH hitter - noted for plus-plus speed and baseball instincts.
Victor Cardoza - 18 years old - signed 1/15/23 - 5’11” - Venezuela - RH hitter - posted a .241/.353/.375 slash line in 133 PA’s last season for Phillies Red with 4 doubles, 4 triples and a home run - he had a strong 2024 spring camp.
Samuel Estevez - 17 years old - signed 1/15/24 - 6’0” - Dominican Republic - RH hitter - had a strong 2024 spring camp
Jorge Julio - 17 years old - signed 1/15/23 - 6’1” - Venezuela - RH hitter - played last season as a 16 year old appearing in 16 games for Phillies White - had a very strong 2024 spring camp going 9 for 16 in games I tracked with three doubles and a home run. His father pitched for nine seasons in the major leagues as a closer and relief pitcher.
Jaeden Calderon - 18 years old - signed 1/15/23 - 6’1” - born in Florida but signed out of Dominican Republic - RH hitter - noted for raw power - hit .276/.414/.463 in 152 PA’s last season for Phillies Red with 8 doubles, 3 triples, 3 home runs, 23 RBI’s and 13 stolen bases. Is a corner outfielder who also plays first base.
