6/22/24 : Minor League Roundup

International League ( AAA ) - Norfolk 14 (36-38) Lehigh Valley 8 (33-39)

Allentown, PA - Coca-Cola Park


Summary :


Heston Kjerstad hit a two run home run for Norfolk in the first inning.


Kody Clemens homered to lead off the bottom of the first inning.  Johan Rojas singled and scored on a double by Buddy Kennedy.   Weston Wilson hit a two run home run.  Scott Kingery walked, stole second and scored on a single by Aramis Garcia.


Three walks loaded the bases in the 5th inning for Norfolk, Kyle Stowers hit a grand slam home run.  Two singles and three walks scored three more runs.


The game went into brief rain delay in the top of the 6th inning.


A double, walk, wild pitch and sacrifice fly scored a run in the 6th inning for Norfolk in the 6th inning. A single and three run home run by Connor Norby plated three more runs.  They scored a run in the 7th on a walk and double.


Johan Rojas singled in the eighth inning and later scored on a single by Darick Hall.  Ruben Cardenas hit a two run home run.


At Bat : 8 R, 10 H, 2 BB, 10 K’s


Kody Clemens had two hits (double & HR). Johan Rojas had two hits (hard ground singles to center field). Aramis Garcia had two hits (singles).  Buddy Kennedy doubled.  Weston Wilson and Ruben Cardenas each hit a two run home run.


On The Hill : 14 R, 12 H, 12 BB, 12 K’s


Mick Abel pitched four plus innings - 5 R - 4 earned, 2 H, 6 BB, 4 K’s - 100 pitches - 59 strikes.  Taylor Lehman pitched 2/3 of an inning - 4 R, 3 H, 3 BB, 2 K’s - 24 pitches - 11 strikes.  Jonah Dipoto pitched 1/3 of an inning - 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 0 K’s - 9 pitches - 5 strikes.  Blaine Knight went two innings - 5 R, 5 H, 3 BB, 3 K’s - 44 pitches - 26 strikes.  Yunior Marte pitched a perfect inning - 3 K’s - 13 pitches - 10 strikes.  Catcher Jose Godoy pitched an inning - 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 0 K’s - 6 pitches - 6 strikes.

Thursday's win marked the largest comeback win of the season for the 'Pigs, as they rallied from five runs down to win, 9-7. The previous mark had been four, when the 'Pigs erased a 4-0 deficit on Opening Night with a seven-run ninth inning against Worcester. It was the 11th time this season the 'Pigs were tied after seven, they are now 6-5 in those games. - Media Notes

Summary :


New Hampshire scored a run in the second inning on a home run by Rainer Nunez.


Baron Radcliff homered in the 5th inning.


A double and triple scored a run for New Hampshire in the seventh inning.


Otto Kemp walked in the 8th inning, Kendall Simmons was hit by a pitch.  Trevor Schwecke reached on an error on which Kemp scored.


The game went into extra innings tied at two.


In the 11th inning Andrick Nava walked and Baron Radcliff singled to score placed runner Trevor Schwecke.  Marcus Lee Sang reached on an error on which Nava scored.


New Hampshire scored the placed runner in the 11th with a wild pitch and ground out.


On The Hill :  3 R, 8 H, 1 BB, 9 K’s


Max Castillo pitched three innings - 1 R, 3 H, 0 BB, 1 K - 40 pitches - 27 strikes.  Efrain Contreras pitched four innings - 1 R, 3 H, 0 BB, 6 K’s.  Cristian Hernandez pitched two innings - 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 1 K - 22 pitches - 15 strikes.  Carlos Francisco pitched two innings - 1 unearned R, 1 H, 1 BB, 1 K - 24 pitches - 16 strikes


At Bat : 4 R, 8 H, 4 BB, 17 K’s


Baron Radcliff had two hits (single & HR) and a walk, he had two RBIs.  Ethan Wilson had two hits (singles).  Kendall Simmons doubled.

Carson Taylor turned in another impressive game in what has been a career-year for him. He set a new season-high with four hits, and also tied a career-high with that mark. The only other time Taylor had four hits in a game was June 22, 2021, when he was with Great Lake in the Dodgers’ organization. It was also the second four-hit game for a Fightin Phil this season, as Marcus Lee Sang had four hits on June 8, against Harrisburg. - Media Notes

Summary :


Justin Crawford led off the game with a single, he went to second on a ground out and to third on a throwing error.  Aidan Miller walked.  Crawford scored on a ground out by Leandro Pineda.  Felix Reyes singled to score Miller.


Jordan Dissin homered in the second inning.


Aidan Miller singled in the third inning as did Felix Reyes.  Emaarion Boyd tripled to score two runs.


Aidan Miller and Leandro Pineda walked in the 5th inning, they scored on a double by Felix Reyes.


Erick Brito and Leandro Pineda singled in the seventh inning, Brito scored on a sacrifice fly by Felix Reyes.


On The Hill : 0 R, 1 H, 3 BB, 12 K’s


George Klassen pitched five no hit, no run innings - 2 BB, 8 K’s - 78 pitches - 48 strikes.  Jack Dallas went 1.2 innings - 0 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 2 K’s - 37 pitches - 20 strikes. Trey Dillard retired all four batters he faced - 1.1 IP, 1 K - 14 pitches - 10 strikes.  Danny Wilkinson pitched a perfect inning - 1 K - 12 pitches - 7 strikes.


At Bat : 8 R, 10 H, 3 BB, 2 K’s


Felix Reyes had three hits (two singles & double) and four RBIs.  Jordan Dissin homered.  Emaarion Boyd tripled. Erick Brito had two hits (singles).  Aidan Miller singled and walked twice, he scored two runs.

The BlueClaws scored the go-ahead run on an 10th inning wild pitch and the BlueClaws held off Brooklyn 3-2 on Friday night on Coney Island.  William Lugo had tied the game with a two out ninth inning home run off Andrew Walling, but it was Walling who stranded the inherited runner at third base to end the game. Summary :


A triple and single scored a run for Jupiter in the fourth inning.  A walk, single and wild pitch scored a run in the sixth inning.


Avery Owusu-Asiedu and Devin Saltiban walked in the seventh inning.  Pierce Bennettsingled to score a run.


On The Hill :  2 R, 6 H, 4 BB, 9 K’s


Micah Ottenbreit pitched five innings - 2 R, 4 H, 3 BB, 6 K’s -  78 pitches - 47 strikes.  Brandon Beckel pitched 1.2 innings - 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 2 K’s - 23 pitches - 13 strikes. Drew Garrett pitched 1.1 innings - 0 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 1 K -  16 pitches - 8 strikes.


At Bat : 1 R, 6 H, 9 BB, 8 K’s


Jordan Viars (single & double) and Pierce Bennett (singles) each had two hits.  Jared Thomas and Devin Saltiban each walked three times.  Bryson Ware walked twice.

Summary :


Nolan Beltran walked in the 1st inning, Juan Villavicencio singled.  Guillermo Rosario singled to score Beltran.  Rickardo Perez grounded out to score Villavicencio.


Three doubles scored two runs for the Tigers in the bottom of the first inning.  A walk and fielding error resulted in a run in the sixth inning.


On The Hill : 3 R, 7 H, 3 BB, 8 K’s


Juan Amarante pitched five innings - 2 R, 5 H, 2 BB, 5 K’s.  Maxwell Hernandez pitched three innings - 1 unearned R, 3 H, 1 BB, 3 K’s


At Bat : 2 R, 5 H, 3 BB, 2 K’s


Dominican Summer League - Tigers1  4 (5-8) Phillies Red 3 (4-10) - seven innings

Summary :


The Tigers scored a run in the second inning on a hit batter and triple.  They scored twice in the third inning on a single, walk and double and once in the 5th on a walk, stolen base, ground out and sacrifice fly.


Maylerson Casanova singled in the bottom of the 5th and stole second.  Adrian Garcia walked.  They both scored on an errant pick off throw.


Jalvin Arias was hit by a pitch in the 6th inning, he scored on a double by Maylerson Casanova.


On The Hill : 4 R, 4 H, 3 BB, 6 K’s


Joshue De La Cruz pitched three innings - 3 R, 3 H, 2 BB, 3 K’s.  Naiker Velasquez pitched three innings - 1 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 1 K.

Naoel Mejia pitched a perfect inning - 2 K’s.


At Bat : 3 R, 9 H, 2 BB, 5 K’s


David Freitas was 3 for 3 (singles).  Maylerson Casanova was 2 for 3 (single & double).  Alirio Ferrebus was 2 for 3 (singles) and Leny Carela doubled.


Dominican Summer League - Twins 7 (7-8) Phillies White (5-9)- six innings

Twins Complex, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic


Summary :


Jaeden Calderon walked in the first inning and advanced to third on a single by Anderson Navas.  Calderon then scored on a wild pitch.


A walk, stolen base, single (RBI), fielding error and wild pitch scored two runs for the Twins in the bottom of the first inning.


Victor Cardoza walked in the second inning and scored when Francisco Loreto reached on a throwing error.


The Twins scored twice in the third on two hit batters, a walk,ground out and wild pitch.


Victor Cardoza hit a two run home run in the fourth inning.


The Twins scored three in the 5th on a double, three walks, a sacrifice fly and wild pitch.


On The Hill : 7 R, 2 H, 11 BB, 6 K’s


Julio Polanco pitched three innings - 4 R - 3 earned, 1 H, 3 BB, 3 K’s.  John Sosa went 1.1 innings - 3 R, 1 H, 5 BB, 1 K.  Edwin Castillo pitched 1.1 innings - 0 R, 0 H, 3 BB, 2 K’s.


At Bat : 4 R, 4 H, 4 BB, 7 K’s


Victor Cardoza went 2 for 2 (single & HR) and walked, he scored twice and posted two RBIs.  Francisco Loreto doubled.
