International League ( AAA ) - Lehigh Valley 6 (4-2, 38-41) Durham 3 (2-4, 38-43)

Durham Bulls Athletic Park, Durham, NC


Summary :


Cal Stevenson and Aramis Garcia singled in the second inning,  Matt Kroon singled to score a run.


Bob Seymour homered for Durham in the bottom of the second inning.


Weston Wilson singled in the third inning, he advanced to second on an error and scored on a single by Nick Podkul.


Durham scored twice in the fourth inning on three singles and a throwing error (Scott Kingery).


Weston Wilson homered to lead off the fifth inning.


Matt Kroon singled in the seventh, Jose Godoy and Buddy Kennedy walked.  A sacrifice fly by Ruben Cardenas scored Kroon.


Jose Godoy singled in the ninth and scored on a home run by Weston Wilson.


At Bat : 6 R, 11 H, 2 BB, 9 K’s


Weston Wilson had three hits (single & two HR’s - 3 RBIs, 3 runs).  Matt Kroon had three hits (singles).  Buddy Kennedy doubled.


On The Hill : 3 R, 7 H, 2 BB, 13 K’s


Kolby Allard pitched four innings - 3 R - 2 earned, 6 H, 1 BB, 5 K’s - 64 pitches - 46 strikes.  Michael Rucker pitched two innings - 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 4 K’s - 34 pitches - 26 strikes.  Tyler Gilbert pitched two innings - 0 R, 0 H, 1 BB, 2 K’s - 25 pitches - 16 strikes.  Max Lazar closed - 1 perfect IP - 2 K’s - 64 pitches - 46 strikes.

The 'Pigs have been the best in the IL in throwing out base stealers. The 'Pigs have caught 37 runners which is 9 more than anyone else in the league. They've only allowed 65 stolen bases total as well, which is tied for seventh fewest in the league. Aramis Garcia has the most CS in all of MiLB. with 24. Game One : Bowie 2 Reading 1 - ten innings


Completion of suspended game from 6/29/24


Summary :


With no score by either side the game went into rain delay in the bottom of the third inning.   The game resumed at 9:30 PM.


TT Bowens homered for Bowie in the 6th inning.  The game went into a second rain delay in the bottom of the 6th inning and was eventually suspended.


It resumed at this point today.


Carson Taylor walked in the bottom of the sixth and scored on a double by Trevor Schwecke.


The game went into extra innings.


A two out single scored the placed runner in the top of the 10th for Bowie.


On The Hill :  2 R, 5 H, 4 BB, 8 K’s


Zach Haake opened and pitched two innings - 0 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 3 K’s - 18 pitches - 10 strikes.  Carlos Francisco pitched an inning - 0 R, 0 H, 1 HB, 1 BB, 0 K’s - 22 pitches - 14 strikes.  Noah Skirrow pitched 3 innings - 1 R, 2 H, 2 BB, 1 K - 44 pitches - 30 strikes.  Andrew Schultz pitched two perfect innings - 2 K’s - 26 pitches - 17 strikes.  Tommy McCollum pitched two innings - 1 unearned R, 1 H, 0 BB, 2 K’s - 25 pitches - 19 strikes.

Game Two : Bowie 6 Reading 3


Summary :


A triple and double scored a run for Bowie in the first inning.   A walk and double scored a run in the second.


Otto Kemp homered in the 4th inning.


A walk, hit batter and double scored a run for Bowie in the 5th inning.


Three walks, a double, fielding error and sacrifice scored three runs for Bowie in the seventh.


Ethan Wilson singled in the bottom of the seventh and scored on a home run by Bryce Ball.


On The Hill :  6 R, 6 H, 6 BB, 12 K’s


Konnor Ash opened and pitched 1.1 innings - 2 R, 3 H, 2 BB, 2 K’s - 34 pitches - 18 strikes.  Efrain Contreras went 3.2 innings - 1 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 5 K’s - 61 pitches - 40 strikes.  Tristan Garnett pitched an inning -  3 R - 2 earned, 1 H, 2 BB, 2 K’s - 35 pitches - 20 strikes.  Cristian Hernandez pitched three scoreless innings - 0 R, 0 H, 1 BB, 3 K’s - 43 pitches - 29 strikes.

Summary :


Greensboro scored three runs in the first inning on two walks, a single and double.


Erick Brito doubled in the bottom of the first, Keaton Anthony singled.  Leandro Pineda hit a sacrifice fly to score Brito.


A walk, single and two fielding errors (second baseman Erick Brito) scored two runs for GBO in the fourth inning.  A walk and double scored a fifth inning run for them.


Jack Brannigan hit a two run home run for Greensboro in the seventh inning.   They added two runs in the ninth inning on two singles,  a wild pitch and ground out.


On The Hill : 10 R, 9 H, 5 BB, 10 K’s


Sam Aldegheri pitched four innings - 5 R - 3 earned, 4 H, 4 BB, 5 K’s - 87 pitches - 48 strikes.  Gunner Mayer pitched two innings - 1 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 1 K - 33 pitches - 19 strikes. Jack Dallas pitched two innings - 2 R, 2 H, 0 BB, 2 K’s - 29 pitches - 19 strikes.  Mason Ronan pitched an inning - 2 R, 2 H, 0 BB, 2 K’s - 24 pitches - 15 strikes.

Erick Brito had two hits (single & double).

The BlueClaws hit three grand slams between 2021 and 2023, but they have three grand slams since May 30th – one by Justin Crawford (May 30th), one by Emaarion Boyd (June 9th), and one by Jordan Dissin (June 11th).  Boyd’s home run was the second of his career while Dissin’s was his sixth home run of the season. - Media Notes

Summary :


Bryson Ware doubled in the first inning.  Pierce Bennett and Raylin Heredia walked.  Nikau Pouaka-Grego was hit by a pitch to force in a run.  Jared Thomas singled to score another, Heredia was thrown out at the plate attempting to score.


Nikau Pouaka-Grego walked in the fourth inning, Jared Thomas doubled.  A.J. Shaverreached on a throwing error by the shortstop - two runs scored.


Two singles, a walk and sacrifice fly scored a run for Bradenton in the fifth inning.


On The Hill : 1 R, 4 H, 2 BB, 10 K’s


Braydon Tucker was very good - 5 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 2 BB, 4 K’s - 75 pitches - 49 strikes.  Jose Peña Jr pitched two perfect innings - 4 K’s - 22 pitches - 18 strikes.  Luis Avila pitched an inning - 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 1 K - 22 pitches - 12 strikes.  Drew Garrett pitched an inning - 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 1 K - 15 pitches - 9 strikes.


At Bat : 4 R, 7 H, 4 BB, 7 K’s


Jared Thomas and Kehden Hettiger each had two hits (single & double).  Pierce Bennett singled and walked twice.  Bryson Ware and Jordan Viars doubled.

Jordan Viars’ homer last night was the first leadoff homer in the opening inning for the Threshers this season. He had a hit in each of the first five games of this series.
