Opening day for the Complex Leagues 😎.


Florida Complex League


Phillies 3 Blue Jays 2 - game suspended - 6th inning - to be completed tomorrow

Dunedin, Florida


Summary :


Dakota Kotowski homered in the second inning.


The Blue Jays scored twice in the third inning, the first run crossed on three consecutive singles, the second on a wild pitch.


In the fifth inning Santiago Torres and Yhoswar Garcia singled, they both scored on a double by Pedro Martinez.


The game went into rain delay with one out in the top of the fifth inning.  It was eventually suspended, to be completed tomorrow at 10 AM at Carpenter Complex followed by a seven inning game.


On the Hill :


Oswald Medina started and pitched three innings, two runs, four hits, no walks and four strikeouts.


Dominican Summer League


Pirates Gold 6 (1-0) Phillies Red 1 (0-1)

@ Pirates Training Complex


Summary :


The Pirates scored a run in the second inning on an RBI double by John Zorrilla.


Dervin Andrade reached on a throwing error in the 6th inning, advanced to second on a walk and scored on a single by Renair Manrique.


The Pirates scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth including two on a home run by Ruben Vizcaya.


On the Hill :


Juan Amarante started and went four innings, one run, three hits, two walks, five strikeouts. Rainy Mota pitched a scoreless inning, Luis Alcala pitched two scoreless frames.


At the Bat :


Renair Manrique had two of the team’s three hits including a double. Nolan Beltran had the other, a double.



Phillies White 9 (1-0) Nationals 3 (0-1)

@ Phillies Training Complex


Summary :


The Phillies scored twice in the third inning, Starlyn Caba doubled and Romel Mendez walked.  Aroon Escobar doubled to score them both.


Carlos Batista tripled for the Nationals in the fourth inning and later scored on a sac fly.


The Phillies put five on the board in the bottom of the fourth.  Angel Mata walked, Jorge Julio singled, they both scored on a double by Yemil Rosario.  Rosario circled the bases on a throwing error.   Leny Carela doubled and scored on a single by Starlyn Caba.  Romel Mendez tripled to score Caba.


The Nationals scored a run in the 5th inning on a couple of singles and a ground out.


Angel Mata doubled in the seventh inning and scored on a triple by Yemil Rosario. Rosario later scored on a fielding error.


The Nationals scored a run in the 8th on a walk, stolen base and single.


On the Hill :


Wilmer Blanco started and went four innings, one run, three hits, one walk, four strikeouts.  Kleyderve Andrade pitched three innings, one run, three hits, one walk, three strikeouts.  Eduardo Fernandez and John Sosa finished it out with an inning each.


At the Bat :


Nineteen year old shortstop Yemil Rosario went 2 for 3 (double, triple) with a walk, he scored twice and drove in three more. Seventeen year old Starlyn Caba had two hits (single & double) and a walk, he scored twice. Aroon Escobar, Angel Mata and Leny Carela each doubled.  Romel Mendez tripled.


Notes :


Before the game there were trophy presentations to commemorate the 2022 DSL championship won by Phillies White.  Edwin Soto, Manager of Phillies Player Development spoke at the event.  A very proud moment for the Dominican Training Academy as it’s their first league title since opening the facility in 2017.  Good stuff!
