7/13/21 : RHP Matt Russell signs with Phillies

Following the draft today 22 year old RHP Matt Russell signed as an amateur free agent with the Phillies. He pitched for Missouri State University over three seasons and logged 100 IP with 86 K’s and 48 BB as primarily a reliever.

He sat out the 2019 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery. He’s from Kansas City, Missouri and was previously drafted in 2017 in the 40th round by the LA Angels. He’s listed as 6’2” 190 lbs
