International League ( AAA ) - Worcester 14 (10-8, 45-48) Lehigh Valley 3 (12-7,46-46)

Allentown, PA - Coca-Cola Park


Summary :


Cal Stevenson doubled in the first inning, Buddy Kennedy singled.  Kody Clemens hit a sacrifice fly to score Stevenson.


Chase Meidroth homered for Worcester in the third inning.  A double, single, walk,  sacrifice fly, single, ground out sequence scored four more runs.


Worcester scored twice in the 6th on a fielding error and two singles.  They scored seven runs in the ninth on a walk, double, triple, balk, home run (Emmanuel Valdez), single and home run (Nick Sogurd).


Carlos De La Cruz was hit by a pitch in the 8th, he scored on a home run by Jim Haley.


At Bat : 3 R, 5 H, 2 BB, 9 K’s


Jim Haley had three hits (single, double, HR, two RBIs).  Cal Stevenson doubled.


On The Hill :  14 R, 16 H, 2 BB, 9 K’s


Max Castillo pitched 2.1 innings - 5 R, 7 H, 2 BB, 3 K’s - 72 pitches - 38 strikes.  Ricardo Pinto pitched 3.2 innings - 2 unearned R, 2 H, 2 BB, 3 K’s - 78 pitches - 43 strikes. Jonah Dipoto pitched two innings - 0 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 3 K’s - 33 pitches - 19 strikes.  Eury Ramos pitched 2/3 of an inning - 7 R, 5 H, 2 BB, 0 K’s - 41 pitches - 22 strikes.  Zach Haake retired the only batter he faced with a strikeout - 5 pitches - 4 strikes.

Before tonight since June 23, the 'Pigs had the best ERA in the IL at 3.99. Coincidentally, they have the 2nd most wins since then as well with thirteen. In that timeframe, ‘Pigs relievers have been stellar as Tyler Gilbert has four saves and a 0.96 ERA in nine outings and Tyler McKayhas a 1.17 ERA and 0.26 WHIP.  Kolby Allard has been the star starter, striking out 25 in 23.1IP with a 3.09 ERA. - Media Notes

Summary :


Marcelo Mayer hit a two run home run for Portland in the first inning.  Blaze Jordan also homered.


Erick Brito doubled in the third inning, stole third and scored on a sacrifice fly by Marcus Lee Sang.


Portland added two runs in the bottom of the third inning on two walks, a single and ground out.


Justin Crawford walked in the fifth inning, went to second on a passed ball, stole third and scored on a ground out by Caleb Ricketts.


Two singles and a ground out scored a Portland run in the seventh.


On The Hill : 6 R, 11 H, 2 BB, 4 K’s


Konnor Ash opened and pitched two innings - 3 R, 3 H, 0 BB, 1 K - 29 pitches - 18 strikes.  Noah Skirrow pitched four innings - 2 R, 5 H, 2 BB, 2 K’s - 68 pitches - 40 strikes.  Carlos Francisco pitched an inning - 1 R, 2 H, 0 BB, 0 K’s - 17 pitches - 11 strikes.  Dominic Pipkin pitched an inning - 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 1 K - 15 pitches - 9 strikes.


Notes :


Justin Crawford (double), Leandro Pineda (single) and Erick Brito (double) all got hits in their first AA level AB’s.


At Bat : 2 R, 7 H, 3 BB, 8 K’s


Justin Crawford had three hits (single, two doubles, walk, stolen base).  Leandro Pineda had two hits (singles).  Erick Brito doubled.

Summary :


Keaton Anthony and Emaarion Boyd singled in the second inning. Felix Reyes singled to score Anthony.  Jordan Dissin walked.  Boyd scored on a wild pitch.


Emaarion Boyd singled in the fourth inning, stole second and then scored on two wild pitches.


William Bergolla singled in the fifth inning, stole second, went to third on a fly out and then scored on a fielder’s choice grounder by Hendry Mendez.


Jordan Viars walked in the 6th inning, advanced to second on a ground out, to third on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Matt Kroon.


Brooklyn scored five runs in the ninth inning on a single, walk, single, wild pitch, single and two run home run (Omar De Los Santos) to tie the game and send it into extra innings.


Brooklyn scored the game winning run in the 10th with a walk-off single.



On The Hill : 6 R, 9 H, 3 BB, 8 K’s


Braeden Fausnaught was simply outstanding - seven scoreless innings - 3 H, 1 HB, 0 BB, 5 K’s - 90 pitches - 63 strikes.

Estibenzon Jimenez pitched two innings - 5 R, 5 H, 1 BB, 3 K’s - 46 pitches - 31 strikes.  Jack Dallas pitched 1/3 of an inning - 1 unearned R, 1 H, 2 intentional walks - 9 pitches - 5 strikes.


At Bat :  5 R, 9 H, 3 BB, 9 K’s


William Bergolla, Keaton Anthony and Emaarion Boyd each had two hits.  Aidan Miller doubled.  Boyd and Bergolla each stole bases.

Two singles and a double scored two runs for Fort Myers in the fourth inning.


Former Phillie Rixon Wingrove homered for Fort Myers in the 6th inning.


A walk and double scored a run for Fort Myers in the 8th inning.


Raylin Heredia and Devin Saltiban singled in the eighth inning, Diego Gonzalez grounded out to score a run.


Fort Myers scored two runs in the 9th on two walks, fielding error and ground out.


On The Hill :  6 R, 7 H, 6 BB, 10 K’s


Christian McGowan pitched three scoreless innings - 1 H, 1 BB, 4 K’s - 49 pitches - 31 strikes - sinker was buzzing 94-97 mph.

Chase Hopewell pitched an inning - 2 R, 3 H, 0 BB, 1 K - 22 pitches - 15 strikes.  Chuck King pitched a perfect inning - 1 K - 8 pitches - 6 strikes   Brandon Beckel pitched three innings - 2 R, 2 H, 2 BB, 4 K’s - 53 pitches - 32 strikes.  Jake Eddington pitched an inning - 2 R - 1 earned, 1 H, 3 BB, 0 K’s - 26 pitches - 11 strikes.

The game (scheduled for seven innings) went into the top of the second with one out recorded before it was suspended due to weather.


Dominican Summer League -Marlins 3 (20-15) Phillies Red 2 (10-23) - eight innings

Marlins Complex


Summary :


The Marlins scored a run in the first inning on a hit batter, single and sacrifice fly.  They added a run in the fourth inning on a fielding error, walk and single.


Meylin De Leon doubled in the seventh inning and scored on a double by Joseph Diaz.  Leny Carela singled to score Diaz.


The game went into extra innings.


The Marlins scored the placed runner on two ground outs.


On The Hill :  3 R, 4 H, 5 BB, 7 K’s


Brad Pacheco made his pro debut - 2 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 0 BB, 2 K’s.  Rene Yrish pitched two innings - 1 unearned R, 1 H, 2 BB, 1 K.  Fernando Ramos pitched three innings - 0 R, 1 H, 2 BB, 4 K’s.  Darling Reyes pitched 2/3 of an inning - 1 unearned R, 0 H, 1 BB, 0 K’s.

Dominican Summer League - Tigers2 (22-12) Phillies White (13-19) - suspended - weather

Summary :


A walk, stolen base and single scored a run for the Tigers in the first inning.  Two singles and a ground out scored a run for them in the second.  Two singles, a ground out an fielding error scored two in the third.


Francisco Loreto reached on a fielding error in the bottom of the third, advanced to third base on a single by Cristobal Bena and scored on a ground out by Jose Familia.


The Tigers scored twice in the fourth on a single, fielding error, passed ball and single.


The game went into weather delay with two outs in the top of the fifth inning.  It was eventually suspended.
