International League ( AAA ) - Lehigh Valley 10 (15-8,49-47)  Rochester 2 (14-9, 52-44)

Summary :


Scott Kingery singled in the third inning, Cal Stevenson reached on an error.  Kody Clemens hit a ground rule double to score Kingery. Rafael Marchan walked to load the bases.  Darick Hall walked to force in a run.  Buddy Kennedy hit a sacrifice fly to score a run.


Simon Muzziotti singled in the fourth inning, Scott Kingery doubled.  Matt Kroon reached on a fielders choice - Muzziotti scored by beating the throw from the third baseman on Kroon’s high chopper home.  Cal Stevenson singled to score a run.  Darick Hall singled to score two runs.


Rochester scored a run in the 4th inning on two doubles.


Cal Stevenson singled in the 5th inning, stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error.  He scored on a sacrifice fly by

Kody Clemens.


Carter Kieboom homered for Rochester in the 6th inning.


Rafael Marchan and Darick Hall singled in the ninth inning, Buddy Kennedy doubled to score a run.


At Bat : 10 R, 18 H, 4 BB, 3 K’s


Cal Stevenson had four hits (singles), an RBI and scored three runs. Scott Kingery also had four hits (three singles and double, two runs scored). Buddy Kennedy had three hits (two singles & double with a walk and two RBIs).  Simon Muzziotti two hits and a walk.  Darick Hall singled twice and walked, had three RBIs.  Kody Clemens (two RBIs) doubled.


On The Hill : 2 R, 5 H, 2 BB, 8 K’s


Mick Abel pitched well - 5 IP, 1 R, 4 H, 1 BB, 5 K’s - 84 pitches - 50 strikes. His fastball reached 97 mph early in his outing and he held it consistently at 95-96 throughout.  Griff McGarry pitched an inning - 1 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 1 K - 17 pitches - 12 strikes.  Zach Haake pitched two innings - 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 2 K’s - 22 pitches - 14 strikes.  Michael Mercado pitched an inning - 0 R, 0 H, 1 BB, 0 K’s - 14 pitches - 9 strikes.

A key cog in the early season offense to the 'Pigs, David Dahl has re-signed as a MiLB FA with the Phillies and assigned to Lehigh Valley.  Dahl was DFA'd by the Phillies on July 8 and eventually elected free agency, he left the 'Pigs as their leading hitter on the year at .340 with 12 homers and a 1.076 OPS at the time of his departure. He hit three homers and had a .639 OPS in 19 games with the Phillies. Before his promotion, Dahl homered five times in his final six 'Pigs games and also hit for the cycle on 5/15 at Norfolk, the third in 'Pigs history. - Media Notes

Carson Taylor homered in the second inning.


Cade Fergus homered in the fifth inning.


Erick Brito singled in the 8th inning, went to second on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Justin Crawford.  Crawford stole second and scored on a triple by Marcus Lee Sang.   Gabriel Rincones Jr singled to score Lee Sang.  Carson Taylor doubled.  Josh Breaux singled to score two runs.


On The Hill : 0 R, 5 H, 2 BB, 8 K’s


Matt Osterberg was very good - 5 IP, 0 R, 3 H, 2 BB, 6 K’s - 66 pitches - 44 strikes.  Dominic Pipkin pitched a perfect inning (ground out, pop out, line out) - 9 pitches - 4 strikes.  Carlos Francisco pitched an inning - 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 1 K - 16 pitches - 9 strikes.  Cristian Hernandez completed the shutout - 2 IP, 1 H, 2 K’s - 19 pitches - 16 strikes.


At Bat : 7 R, 11 H, 2 BB, 13 K’s


Carson Taylor had two hits and scored twice (double & HR). Robert Moore singled and doubled. Cade Fergus homered.  Marcus Lee Sang tripled and walked, had an RBI. Justin Crawford singled, walked, stole a base, scored a run and had an RBI.  Josh Breaux posted two RBIs. Every batter in the lineup had at least one hit.

Lachlan Wells was spectacular on the mound once again on Tuesday night. He tossed his second-straight outing of seven innings and no runs allowed. Wells matched a career-high with 11 strikeouts, with the last time he set that mark was on Sept. 1, 2016, with Cedar Rapids in the Twins system. It was just the third time in Wells’ career he struck out 10+ batters in a game. With back-to-back seven-shutout innings outings, Wells has now not allowed a run in 14-straight innings. For the month of July, Wells is now 3-0, with a 1.44 ERA over four starts. Wells currently leads the Eastern League with a 1.03 WHIP, is seventh with a 3.55 ERA and 10th with 91.1 IP. He is second in the league in strikeout-to-walk ratio at 7.00. The only pitcher with a better stikeout-to-walk ratio than Wells in teammate Robinson Pina, who is at 7.42. - Media Notes


South Atlantic League ( High A )  - Jersey Shore 8 (15-11, 53-39) Aberdeen 2 (13-13, 47-45)

Summary : - 11 AM start


William Bergolla walked in the bottom of the first - he scored from first base on an infield single by Aidan Miller and subsequent error.  Aberdeen’s second baseman threw the baseball wide of first base - Bergolla headed to third and when he saw that no one was covering home he kept going and slid in ahead of the pitcher’s tag who was late covering (the catcher had ran down the first base line to back up first base but didn’t circle back).


A walk and double scored an Aberdeen run in the third inning.


Aidan Miller walked in the third inning, he scored on a single down the right field line by Keaton Anthony when Aberdeen’s right fielder tossed the ball into second base - skipper Greg Brodzinski waved Miller home and he easily beat the throw to home from second base 👀.


Trent Farquhar and Jordan Viars walked to begin the fourth inning, they executed a double steal to move up a base.  Zach Arnold singled to score a run.  Luis Caicuto walked.  A run scored when Emaarion Boyd grounded into a 6-4-3 double play.


Emaarion Boyd doubled in the seventh inning and scored on a double by Felix Reyes.  Reyes scored on a sacrifice fly by Keaton Anthony.


Jordan Viars and Zach Arnold singled in the 8th inning.  Luis Caicuto reached on a throwing error by Aberdeen’s first baseman - a run scored.  Felix Reyes hit a sacrifice fly to score a run.


A double and single scored a run for Aberdeen in the ninth inning.


On The Hill : 2 R, 6 H, 1 BB, 6 K’s


Luke Russo went five innings in his BlueClaws debut - 1 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 3 K’s - 65 pitches - 37 strikes.  Chuck King pitched a perfect inning - 2 K’s - 14 pitches - 8 strikes.  Jayden Estanista pitched an inning - 0 R, 2 H, 0 BB, 0 K’s - 11 pitches - 7 strikes.  Wen Hui Pan pitched an inning - 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 1 K - 14 pitches - 11 strikes.   Wesley Moore closed it out - 1 IP, 1 R, 3 H, 0 BB - 17 pitches - 11 strikes.


At Bat : 8 R, 9 H, 8 BB, 4 K’s


Zach Arnold had three hits (singles) in four AB’s and an RBI.  Emaarion Boyd and Felix Reyes (two RBIs) doubled.  Trent Farquhar and Aidan Miller each singled and walked twice.  Keaton Anthony posted two RBIs.

Keaton Anthony’s walk-off single gave Jersey Shore a series-opening win on Tuesday.  He had two more hits on Sunday and is 7-20 since the break.  He is now 24-67 (.358) with the BlueClaws since arriving on June 26th with seven multi-hit games. He was hitting .322 in 44 games with Clearwater, adding four home runs and 21 RBIs, and drew 28 walks in 186 plate appearances while striking out only 28 times. At the time of his promotion, led the Florida State League in OBP (.446) and OPS (.916) while third in SLG (.470) and fourth in BA (.322). He signed as an NDFA from the University of Iowa in 2023 after three years with the Hawkeyes. - Media Notes

Summary :


Starlyn Caba singled in his first AB as a Thresher to lead off the game, he then promptly stole both second and third base.  Devin Saltiban walked.  Tjayy Walton singled to score Caba and send Saltiban to third base.  Walton stole second base.  Raylin Heredia hit a three run home run.


Devin Saltiban and Kehden Hettiger walked in the third inning, they both scored on a triple by Raylin Heredia.


The game went into weather delay in the middle of the third inning.  It was eventually suspended.


What was supposed to be a doubleheader today now moves to tomorrow.


On The Hill :


Jordan Fowler pitched two innings - 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 0 K’s - 23 pitches - 16 strikes.


At Bat :


Raylin Heredia was 2 for 2 with a triple and home run - five RBIs.  Devin Saltiban walked and scored twice.  Starlyn Caba walked, stole two bases and scored a run.
