I met RHP Ryan Dromboski at the Carpenter Complex today - he will be signing as an un-drafted free agent with the Phillies pending the results of his physical. Ryan played for the University of Pennsylvania the past three seasons as a starting pitcher and earned honorable mention All-Ivy league this year. He’s from Columbus, New Jersey and went to high school at Northern Burlington County.
In his three collegiate seasons at Penn he was 10-8 with a 5.24 ERA in 33 appearances (26 starts) totaling 139 IP with 174 strikeouts and 67 walks. He told me today he’s a sinker/slider pitcher. Ryan was most recently pitching for the Hyannis Harbor Hawks in the Cape Cod League where he posted a 1.64 ERA in four appearances (three starts) in 11 IP with 13 K’s.
He’s a very pleasant young man, the excitement and enthusiasm to become a Phillies was evident in his voice when we spoke. To me that’s a huge part of the equation - the love of the game and the energy to compete and excel, my first impressions are that twenty-one year old Ryan has all of that!
From a fan’s view welcome to the Phillies Ryan!
Happy Day, Happy Baseball ⚾️
