International League ( AAA ) - Lehigh Valley (6-3, 40-42) Scranton Wilkes-Barre (3-5, 46-36) - doubleheader

Coca-Cola Park, Allentown, PA


Game One : Lehigh Valley 4 Scranton Wilkes-Barre 2 - seven innings


Summary :


Ruben Cardenas reached on a fielding error by SWB’s shortstop in the 4th inning.  Darick Hall walked.  Nick Podkul doubled to score Cardenas.  Cody Roberts singled to score Hall.


SWB scored two runs in the 6th inning on three walks, a single and sacrifice fly.


With two outs in the bottom of the seventh Weston Wilson singled, he scored on a walk-off game winning home run by Buddy Kennedy!


At Bat : 4 R, 4 H, 3 BB, 5 K’s


Nick Podkul doubled.  Buddy Kennedy hit a two run home run.


On The Hill : 2 R, 5 H, 7 BB, 5 K’s


Max Castillo pitched four scoreless innings - 3 H, 3 BB, 3 K’s - 72 pitches - 41 strikes. Taylor Lehman pitched 1.1 innings -  2 R, 1 H, 2 BB, 1 K - 25 pitches - 14 strikes.  Andrew Bellatti went 2/3 of an inning - 0 R, 1 H, 2 BB, 0 K’s - 2 inherited runners scored - 15 pitches -6 strikes.  Tyler Gilbert pitched a perfect inning - 1 K - 9 pitches - 7 strikes.


Defensive Notes :


Right fielder Ruben Cardenas had two assists - he threw out a runner at first base and one at third base.


Game Two : Scranton Wilkes-Barre 9 Lehigh Valley 6 - seven innings


Summary :


A double, walk and single scored a SWB run in the second inning.


Augustin Ramirez homered for SWB in the third inning.  A walk, single and hit batter loaded the bases, two sacrifice flys scored two runs.


Ruben Cardenas doubled in the 6th, Nick Podkul walked.  Cal Stevenson doubled to score them both.  AJ Shaver singled to score Stevenson.  Weston Wilson, Buddy Kennedy and Darick Hall walked to force in a run.


Two walks, a fielding error and three singles scored five runs for SWB in the top of the 7th.


Nick Podkul singled in the bottom of the seventh, Cal Stevenson doubled. A wild pitch scored Podkul.  Jim Haley singled to score Stevenson.


At Bat : 6 R, 9 H, 4 BB, 9 K’s


Cal Stevenson had three hits (single & two doubles, two RBIs, two runs scored).  AJ Shaver had two hits (singles, walk,RBI, run).

Jim Haley had two hits (singles, RBI). Ruben Cardenas doubled .  Weston Wilson drew three walks.  Buddy Kennedy walked twice.


On The Hill : 9 R, 8 H, 4 BB, 9 K’s


David Buchanan pitched three innings - 4 R, 5 H, 2 BB, 4 K’s - 68 pitches - 41 strikes.  Jonah Dipoto pitched a perfect inning - 1 K - 12 pitches - 7 strikes.  Nick Nelson pitched 2 plus innings - 2 R - 1 earned, 0 H, 1 BB, 3 K’s - 25 pitches - 15 strikes. Max Lazar pitched an inning - 3 R, 3 H, 1 BB, 1 K - 33 pitches - 23 strikes.

Cal Stevenson set a new franchise mark as he stole five bases on Tuesday night, the most by an IronPig in a single game since Cesar Hernandez stole three bags on July 1, 2013.  With Stevenson's five stolen bases and one from Jim Haley, the 'Pigs also set the franchise mark for most stolen bases as a team with six, besting the mark of five which had been last done on April 30, 2022 against SWB. - Media Notes

Summary :


A walk, ground out and single scored a run for Somerset in the 2nd inning.   Two doubles and single scored two runs for them in the 4th inning.


Kendall Simmons and Caleb Ricketts singled in the 6th inning.  Trevor Schwecke singled to score Simmons.  Josh Breaux hit a three run home run.


Two doubles scored a run for Somerset in the bottom of the sixth.


A single, walk and single sequence scored a run for Somerset in the 7th inning.


On The Hill :  5 R, 9 H, 3 BB, 12 K’s


Zach Haake opened and went two innings - 1 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 2 K’s - 30 pitches - 19 strikes.  Noah Skirrow pitched four innings - 3 R, 5 H, 1 BB, 6 K’s - 72 pitches - 48 strikes.  Matt Russell pitched 1/3 of an inning - 1 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 1 K - 20 pitches - 9 strikes.  Andrew Schultz pitched 1.2 perfect innings - two inherited runners stranded - 20 pitches - 15 strikes.


At Bat : 4 R, 8 H, 2 BB, 8 K’s


Kendall Simmons had two hits (singles, run scored).  Josh Breaux hit a three run home run.

Matt Osterberg turned in his best start of the season, and one of the best outings by a Reading pitcher, on Tuesday night. He matched a team-season high with seven innings, allowing just one run on a leadoff home run, scattering seven hits, and striking out three, with no walks. The seven innings matched a career-high for him, as he last went seven innings on Sept. 14, 2023, on the road at Binghamton. - Media Notes


South Atlantic League ( High A )  - Jersey Shore 8 (4-8, 42-36) Wilmington 4 (4-7, 35-42)

Frawley Stadium, Wilmington, DE


Summary :


A double, single and sacrifice fly scored a run for Wilmington in the first inning.


Justin Crawford reached on a fielding error by the second baseman in the third inning, he scored on a double by Keaton Anthony.  Hendry Mendez singled to score Anthony.  Felix Reyes reached on a fielding error by the Wilmington center fielder, Mendez scored on the play.


A fielding error (SS Aidan Miller), single and ground out scored a run for Somerset in the 4th inning.


Justin Crawford singled in the fifth inning, went to second on a ground out and stole third base (#25 on the season).  He scored on a sacrifice fly by Hendry Mendez.


Emaarion Boyd reached on a fielding error by the shortstop in the 6th inning, went to third on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Aidan Miller.  Justin Crawford singled and stole second (26th).  A wild pitch scored Miller, another wild pitch scored Crawford.


Keaton Anthony singled in the 7th inning and scored on a double by Emaarion Boyd.


A walk and double scored a run for Wilmington in the 8th inning.


A single, wild pitch and single scored a run for Wilmington in the 9th inning.  They left the bases loaded thanks to Andrew Walling who came in with one out and retired the only two batters he faced to end the game!


On The Hill : 4 R, 11 H, 3 BB, 8 K’s


Casey Steward pitched five innings - 2 R - 1 earned, 5 H, 1 BB, 3 K’s - 96 pitches - 60 strikes.  Paxton Thompson pitched two innings - 0 R, 2 H, 0 BB, 2 K’s - 30 pitches - 22 strikes.  Gunner Mayer pitched an inning - 1 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 2 K’s - 23 pitches - 15 strikes.  Trey Dillard pitched 1/3 of an inning - 1 R, 3 H, 1 BB, 1 K - 22 pitches - 11 strikes. Andrew Walling retired the only two batters he faced with a ground out and fly out - 8 pitches - 6 strikes - stranded three inherited runners.


At Bat :  8 R, 10 H, 3 BB, 4 K’s


Justin Crawford (two singles, two stolen bases, three runs), Keaton Anthony (single & double, walk, two runs, RBI), Hendry Mendez (two singles, walk, two RBIs, run) and Emaarion Boyd (single, double, RBI, run) each had two hits.

Coming into tonight’s game the BlueClaws had dropped six in a row for the first time this season. It was their longest losing streak since they lost seven in a row from August 21-28 against Wilmington and Brooklyn in 2022. Summary :


Pierce Bennett homered in the first inning.


Devin Saltiban homered in the sixth inning.


Cristian Feliz hit a two run home run for Dunedin in the seventh inning.  A walk and triple scored another run.


Victor Arias homered for Dunedin in the 8th inning.


Avery Owusu-Asiedu and Devin Saltiban walked in the bottom of the 8th, Pierce Bennett singled to score a run.


A single, double, single and double steal scored two runs for Dunedin in the ninth.


On The Hill : 6 R, 10 H, 2 BB, 8 K’s


Enrique Segura pitched 6 plus innings - 3 R, 5 H, 2 BB, 4 K’s - 78 pitches - 58 strikes - all the runs scored against him came in the seventh inning, he yielded no hits thru the first four frames.   Ethan Chenault pitched three innings - 3 R, 5 H, 0 BB, 4 K’s - 39 pitches - 26 strikes.


At Bat :  3 R, 5 H, 2 BB, 14 K’s


Pierce Bennett had two hits (single & HR, two RBIs) Diego Gonzalez and Raylin Heredia doubled.  Devin Saltiban homered.

Last night Luke Russo became the second Thresher this season to strike out ten batters in a single game.  He set a new career high in Ks. Raylin Heredia is now tied for fourth in the league with four triples. Devin Saltiban had three hits in a game for the third time in his career. - Media Notes
