Due to weather concerns today’s Bridge League game previously scheduled vs the Pirates at the Complex in Clearwater has been changed to a road game in Dunedin against the Blue Jays, noon start. The travel distance is minimal (15 minutes) with the Jays if it rains as opposed to the hour long bus ride it would take the Pirates to come from Bradenton.
It’s not an “official” league game as the Bridge League is a version of extended spring training however it will mark the debuts in Phillies uniforms for a few of the newly signed draft picks and un-drafted free agents.
First round draft pick Dante Nori will lead off and play center field, 2nd round selection Griffin Burkholder will play right field and bat second. Catcher Kodey Shojinaga (6th round selection) will hit third and start behind the plate. Raider Tello (un-drafted signee from University of Iowa) will hit fourth and play first base. Juan Villavicencio will play shortstop and bat fifth followed by Rickardo Perez at DH, Nikau Pouaka-Grego at third base, Jerffson Pena in left field and Nolan Beltran at second base. RHP Maxwell Hernandez will start on the hill.
Position player reserves for the contest include Manolfi Jimenez, Yemal Flores, Junior Marin, Brahian Silva, Lou Albrecht, Yemil Rosario, Joel Dragoo and Luke Davis.
The bullpen will be Claudio Gatier, Elicier Bata, Adilson Peralta, Alexis De La Cruz and Josbel Garcia.
If possible I will report on the results in either tonight or tomorrow’s minor league round up.
Happy Day, Happy Baseball ⚾️
