8/22/24 : Minor League Roundup

International League ( AAA ) - Rochester 12 (30-18,68-53) Lehigh Valley 3 (22-24, 56-63)

Summary :


Three singles and a double scored three runs for Rochester in the second inning.  A walk, single and double scored a run for them in the third inning.


Buddy Kennedy singled in the fourth inning.  Cody Roberts was hit by a pitch.  They both scored on a double by Jim Haley.


A triple and single scored a Rochester run in the fifth inning.


Buddy Kennedy walked in the sixth, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Matt Kroon and scored on a double by Ryan McKenna.


Two singles, a walk and double scored three runs for Rochester in the seventh inning.   They scored three in the 8th inning including two on a home run by Travis Blankenhorn.  Three singles scored another run in the ninth.


At Bat : 3 R, 5 H, 2 BB, 12 K’s


Buddy Kennedy had two hits (singles) and a walk, he scored twice.  Jim Haley had two hits (single & double) and two RBIs.  Ryan McKenna doubled.


On The Hill : 12 R, 18 H, 5 BB, 13 K’s


Mick Abel pitched 5.1 innings - 5 R - 4 earned, 8 H, 2 BB, 8 K’s - 92 pitches - 67 strikes.   Andrew Bellatti retired the only two batters he faced - 1 K - 7 pitches - 6 strikes - 1 inherited runner stranded.   Michael Rucker pitched 1.1 innings - 3 R - 2 earned, 4 H, 1 BB, 2 K’s - 34 pitches - 21 strikes.  Jonah Dipoto pitched 2/3 of an inning - 2 R, 3 H, 1 BB, 0 K’s - 21 pitches - 14 strikes.  Blaine Knight pitched an inning - 1 R, 3 H, 1 BB, 2 K’s - 25 pitches - 14 strikes.

The IronPigs nearly fell victim to a no-hitter on Wednesday, getting their only hit in the seventh inning. It was the first- time this year they were one-hit, and the first time since the second-to-last game of the 2021 season on October 2 against Worcester. It was the second time that season the 'Pigs had been one-hit, as Rochester accomplished the feat on June 9, 2021. The IronPigs haven't been no-hit since Rochester did it on July 6, 2011. - Media Notes

Summary :


Two doubles, a walk, fielding error and d single scored four runs for Binghamton in the first inning.


Trevor Schwecke doubled in the second inning, stole third and scored on a groundout by Ethan Wilson.


Three singles and a double scored three runs for Binghamton in the sixth inning.


Ethan Wilson homered in the eighth inning.


Two singles and a sacrifice fly scored a Binghamton run in the 8th inning.


On The Hill : 8 R, 11 H, 1 BB, 9 K’s


Braeden Fausnaught pitched 5.1 innings - 7 R - 3 earned, 9 H, 1 BB, 6 K’s - 77 pitches - 51 strikes.  Wesley Moore retired the only two batters he faced on fly outs stranding one inherited runner - 6 pitches - 6 strikes.  Tommy McCollum struck out the side in a perfect inning - 12 pitches - 9 strikes.  Daniel Harper pitched an inning - 1 R, 2 H, 0 BB, 0 K’s - 15 pitches - 11 strikes.


At Bat : 2 R, 4 H, 3 BB, 5 K’s


Trevor Schwecke had two hits (single & double).  Gabriel Rincones Jr doubled.  Ethan Wilson homered.


South Atlantic League ( High A )  - Jersey Shore 10 (27-24, 65-52) Brooklyn 1 (23-28, 56-61)

Summary :


Emaarion Boyd reached on a fielders choice in the second inning, he scored on a triple by Pierce Bennett.  Troy Schreffler singled to score Bennett.


Aidan Miller homered in the third inning scoring Trent Farquhar (singled) ahead of him.  Bryson Ware singled and scored on a triple by Emaarion Boyd.


Trent Farquhar tripled in the fourth inning, Aidan Miller and Keaton Anthony walked.  Felix Reyes singled to score two runs.


Bryson Ware tripled in the fifth inning and scored on a single by Emaarion Boyd.  Pierce Bennett singled, Boyd scored on a double play ground out by Troy Schreffler.


A walk, ground out and single scored a run for Brooklyn in the fifth inning.


Aidan Miller singled in the 6th, went to second on a wild pitch, to third on a single by Keaton Anthony.  He scored on a ground out by Bryson Ware.


On The Hill : 1 R, 5 H, 3 BB, 8 K’s


Mitch Neunborn pitched six innings - 1 R, 4 H, 2 HB, 1 BB, 7 K’s - 91 pitches - 60 strikes.   Gunner Mayer pitched a scoreless inning - 1 BB - 17 pitches - 7 strikes.  Alex Garbrick pitched a scoreless/hitless inning - 1 BB - 10 pitches - 5 strikes.  Ethan Chenault pitched a scoreless frame - 1 H, 0 BB, 1 K - 23 pitches - 14 strikes.


At Bat :  10 R, 18 H, 3 BB, 6 K’s


Aidan Miller was 3 for 3 (two singles, HR, walk, two RBIs, three runs scored).  Bryson Ware was 4 for 5 (two singles, double, triple, two runs scored, RBI).  Trent Farquhar, Keaton Anthony, Emaarion Boyd, Troy Schreffler and Peirce Bennett each had two hits.  Bennett, Boyd and Farquhar each tripled.   


Florida State League ( Low A )  - Dunedin 12 (26-23, 60-55 ) Clearwater 4 (14-35, 57-58)

Summary :


Aaron Parker and Manuel Beltre each hit two run home runs for Dunedin in the first inning.  A walk and double scored a run for them in the second inning.  A walk, stolen base and two singles scored two seventh inning runs.


Raider Tello singled in the seventh, Brady Day walked.  Bryan Rincon singled to load the bases.  Tello scored on a ground out by Dante Nori.  Eduardo Tait doubled to score Rincon.


A single and three walks scored a Dunedin run in the 8th.  A triple and wild pitch scored four more.


Joel Dragoo doubled in the 8th, John Spikerman walked.  Kehden Hettiger singled to score Dragoo.  A ground out scored Spikerman.


On The Hill : 12 R, 12 H, 7 BB, 13 K’s


Orlando Gonzalez pitched 4.1 innings - 5 R - 2 earned, 6 H, 3 BB, 3 K’s - 96 pitches - 50 strikes.  Jose Pena Jr pitched 1.2 innings - 0 R, 2 H, 0 BB, 2 K’s - 22 pitches - 17 strikes.  Sam Highfill made his official pro debut - 1.1 IP, 4 R, 3 H, 2 BB, 4 K’s - 40 pitches - 22 strikes.  Drew Garrett pitched 2/3 of an inning - 3 R, 1 H, 1 HB, 2 BB, 2 K’s -  28 pitches - 14 strikes.  Josh Bortka pitched a perfect  inning - 2 K’s - 11 pitches - 8 strikes.

Raider Tello and Joel Dragoo each had two hits (single & double).  Eduardo Tait doubled.

Lehigh Valley : RHP Mick Abel reinstated from the Development List.  INF Rodolfo Castro placed on the 60-day IL (retroactive to 8/21) with a R Thumb UCL Tear.


Reading : LHP Braeden Fausnaught reinstated from the Development List. RHP Cristian Hernandez placed on the 7-day IL.


Jersey Shore : RHP Jack Dallas reinstated from the 7-day IL. LHP Danny Wilkinson placed on the Development List (retroactive to 8/21).
