DJ LeMahieu led off the bottom of the first inning with a home run to right field against Jake Arrieta.
Jay Bruce went yard to lead off the third inning against Gerrit Cole to tie the score.
Brett Gardner led off the bottom of the third inning with a home run to left field for the Yankees. Aaron Judge and Aaron Hicks hit back to back doubles to score another run. 3-1 New York after three innings played.
Jake Arrieta pitched relatively well ... 5 IP, 3 R, 7 H, 0 BB, 4 K’s ... 78 pitches - 50 strikes
Gio Urshela hit a three run homer against reliever Deolis Guerra in the bottom of the sixth inning. Guerra went 2/3 of an inning - 3 R, 1 H, 1 HBP, 1 BB. Adam Morgan got the only batter he faced for the final out of the inning.
Gerrit Cole went six innings for the Yankees - 1 R, 5 H, 1 BB, 4 K’s.
The tarp came on before the seventh inning started and the game went into a rain delay.
After a sixty five minute delay play resumed ...
Yankees reliever Brooks Kriske struggled in the top of the seventh ... he walked the first two batters he faced and then gave up a one out single to Adam Haseley ( 10 pitch AB ) that scored a run ... that ended Kriske’s evening of participation. Chad Green came in and struck out Andrew McCutchen and Rhys Hoskins to end the threat.
Tommy Hunter pitched a perfect seventh inning for the Phillies including making a stellar defensive play - bare handed pickup on a bunt and a laser throw to first base. 👌
Ex Phillie Luis Avilan pitched the eighth for the Yankees ... JT Realmuto singled, advanced to second on a groundout and scored on a two out single by Jean Segura. Avilan struck out Jay Bruce to end the inning.
Jose Alvarez pitched a scoreless eighth inning.
Zack Britton closed it out with a perfect ninth inning for New York.

Tomorrow’s game in New York is postponed - instead a DH is scheduled for Wednesday beginning at 4:05 in Philadelphia
The Phillies came back home via bus after the game.
With the revised schedule the Phillies will play 16 of their first 17 games at CBP
Per the skipper in pre game zoom conference Jake Arrieta started because Nola and Wheeler weren’t able to throw during the time off ... Arrieta threw on Wednesday so was deemed most ready
The original rotation plans after today were ... Nola, Wheeler, Eflin & Velasquez ... will see how the DH effects that ...
