International League ( AAA ) - Scranton Wilkes-Barre 4 (19-16, 62-47) Lehigh Valley 1 (20-14, 54-53)

Summary :


Scott Kingery singled in the first inning and scored on a double by Kody Clemens.


Taylor Trammell homered for SWB in the 7th inning.  Oswald Peraza hit a three run home run for them in the 8th inning.


At Bat : 1 R, 6 H, 1 BB, 11 K’s


Scott Kingery had two hits (single & triple).  Kody Clemens had two hits (single & double, walk, RBI).  Cody Roberts doubled.


On The Hill : 4 R, 6 H, 3 BB, 12 K’s


Mick Abel was excellent!  Held velocity at 95-97 mph throughout the outing on his fastball, threw strikes and challenged hitters - 6 scoreless innings - 3 H, 2 BB, 8 K’s - 81 pitches - 56 strikes - has went thru a lot of learnings this summer, adjusted arm slot, change in ball takeaway from glove, extended effects of ST illness and criticism from box score readers - great effort and results this evening!


Dylan Covey pitched an inning - 1 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 0 K’s - 13 pitches - 9 strikes.  Jonah Dipoto pitched 1/3 of an inning - 3 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 0 K’s - 16 pitches - 8 strikes.  Tyler Gilbert pitched 1.2 innings - he retired all 5 batters he faced - 4 K’s - 22 pitches - 15 strikes.

Buddy Kennedy's 40 game on-base streak to start his 'Pigs career finally came to an end when he failed to reach base on August 3. The streak was the longest in franchise history and the longest in the IL this season. He was also on-base with Toledo for his final five games there, giving him the longest on-base streak in the minors this season at 45. Since joining the 'Pigs, Kennedy ranks 6th in the league in AVG (.335), 5th in OBP (.444), 4th in SLG (.589), 3rd in OPS (1.033), 1st 2B (16), t-3rd in H 53), t-6th BB (30), 1st XBH (24), t-1st TB (93) and t-6th in R (31). Summary :


Justin Crawford walked in the first inning and scored on a home run by Carson Taylor.  Otto Kemp was hit by a pitch, Ethan Wilson singled, Trevor Schwecke reached on catcher’s interference.  Josh Breaux singled to score two runs.


A walk and double scored a run for Akron in the second inning.


Gabriel Rincones Jr hit a two run home run in the fourth inning scoring Marcus Lee Sang (walked) in front of him.


Otto Kemp doubled in the fifth and scored on a single by Josh Breaux.


Kahlil Watson hit a two run home run for Akron in the seventh inning.


Five walks, a sac fly and two singles scored five runs for Akron in the 8th inning.


On The Hill :  8 R, 6 H, 7 BB, 12 K’s


Jean Cabrera pitched well - 5 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 5 K’s - 86 pitches - 50 strikes.  Noah Skirrow pitched a perfect inning - 2 K’s - 10 pitches - 7 strikes.   Andrew Walling pitched an inning - 2 R, 2 H, 0 BB, 3 K’s - 15 pitches - 12 strikes.  Wesley Moore faced four batters but did not record an out - 4 R, 4 BB - 24 pitches - 8 strikes.  Nelson Alvarez pitched 2/3 of an inning - 1 R, 2 H, 2 BB, 1 K - 29 pitches - 18 strikes.  Andrew Schultz struck out the only batter he faced - 4 pitches - all strikes.


At Bat : 7 R, 8 H, 4 BB, 6 K’s


Josh Breaux had two hits (singles) and three RBIs.  Ethan Wilson had two hits (single & double).  Otto Kemp doubled and walked twice.  Carson Taylor and Gabriel Rincones Jr homered.

Ethan Wilson turned in another strong perfromance on Wednesday night, going two-for-five. So far in August, Wilson is slashing .412/.474/.882, with a 1.356 OPS. Summary :


Jared Thomas singled in the fifth inning, advanced to second on a ground out and scored on a single by Hendry Mendez.


Two singles and a double play ground out scored a run for Wilmington in the bottom of the fifth inning.  After a batter reached on a fielding error Jared McKenzie hit a two run home run for them.   T.J. White went back to back.


Trent Farquhar and Jordan Dissin singled in the 9th inning, they scored on a triple by Aidan Miller.


On The Hill : 4 R, 10 H, 3 BB, 4 K’s


Mitch Neunborn pitched five innings - 4 unearned runs, 8 H, 2 BB, 3 K’s - 82 pitches - 52 strikes.  Jordan Fowler pitched two scoreless frames - 2 H, 1 BB, 1 K - 41 pitches - 27 strikes.   Trey Dillard pitched a perfect inning - two ground outs and a fly out - 6 pitches - 5 strikes.


At Bat : 3 R, 10 H, 3 BB, 13 K’s


Aidan Miller had two hits (single & triple) and two RBIs.  Trent Farquhar had two hits (singles) and a walk. Jordan Dissin had two hits (singles).

Coming into tonight the BlueClaws are 34-20 at home and 21-28 on the road this year.  At home, they have a .700 OPS vs

.708 on the road, and are averaging 4.8 runs per game (271 runs in 54 games) against 5.3 runs per game on the road

Carson DeMartini hit his first professional home run in the first inning scoring John Spikerman (reached on a fielding error) in front of him.


Carson DeMartini singled in the third inning, stole second and scored on a single by Ricardo Rosario.


John Peck homered for Lakeland in the third inning.


Carson DeMartini singled in the fifth inning and scored on a double by Kehden Hettiger.


Carson DeMartini walked in the seventh inning and scored when Raylin Heredia reached on a fielding error by Lakeland’s center fielder.


A strikeout/wild pitch, two more wild pitches and a throwing error scored a run for Lakeland in the 8th inning.


Two walks, a wild pitch and ground out scored a Lakeland run in the ninth inning.


On The Hill : 3 R, 1 H, 7 BB, 16 K’s


Danyony Pulido pitched very well - FB consistently at 96 mph - 5 IP, 1 R, 1 H, 4 BB, 8 K’s - 90 pitches - 52 strikes.  Alex Garbrick threw two scoreless frames - 0 H, 1 BB, 4 K’s - 35 pitches - 21 strikes.  Brandon Beckel pitched an inning plus - 1 unearned R, 0 H, 0 BB, 3 K’s, 3 WP - 19 pitches - 15 strikes. Ethan Chenault pitched an inning - 1 R, 0 H, 2 BB, 1 K - 25 pitches - 12 strikes.

Summary :


Leny Carela doubled in the second inning and scored when Victor Cardoza singled.


The Mets scored three runs in the second inning on two singles, a walk and fielding error.


Victor Cardoza homered in the fifth inning.


Samuel Estevez walked in the sixth inning and stole second base, he advanced to third on a single by Yadimir Fuentes. Estevez scored on a double steal attempt where Fuentes was out at second base.


The Mets scored twice in the 8th on a double, walk, wild pitch and single.


On The Hill : 5 R, 8 H, 4 BB, 8 K’s


Brad Pacheco pitched four innings - 3 unearned R, 4 H, 1 BB, 5 K’s.  Geremi Delpinomade his pro debut - 2 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 2 BB, 2 K’s.  Gerardo Lopez pitched two innings - 2 R, 3 H, 1 BB, 1 K.


At Bat : 3 R, 7 H, 3 BB, 10 K’s


Victor Cardoza was 4 for 5 with two singles, a double, home run and two RBIs. He also scored a run.  The 18 year old Venezuelan outfielder is hitting .320/.379/.563 with a .942 OPS in 141 plate appearances with 9 doubles, 2 triples, 6 home runs and 17 RBI’s.  He’s stolen 14 bases in 17 attempts and has shown solid defensive skills in both center and right field.  This is his second season in the DSL - he’s certainly made the case for a state-side assignment next year!


Dominican Summer League - Phillies White 2 (23-25) Mets Orange 1 (24-23)

Summary :


Anderson Navas struck out swinging in the second inning but reached on a wild pitch.  He went to third on a single by Francisco Loreto and scored on a wild pitch.


Isaac Ramirez and Jose Familia walked in the third inning. They advanced on a ground out by Jaedon Calderon.  Ramirez scored on a wild pitch.


The Mets scored in the 8th inning on a single, walk and fielding error.


On The Hill :  1 R, 5 H, 1 BB, 9 K’s


Eduardo Robles pitched seven scoreless innings - 3 H, 0 BB, 6 K’s - the 19 year old RHP from Mexico has thrown twelve scoreless frames in his last two starts allowing four hits and two walks - he struck out 14 batters in those contests.  He’s a fastball/slider pitcher with velocity on his fastball in the low nineties.  Jeffrey German pitched two innings - 1 unearned R, 2 H, 1 BB, 3 K’s.


At Bat : 2 R, 5 H, 4 BB, 11 K’s


Isaac Ramirez and Jorge Julio each doubled.

Lehigh Valley : RHP Mick Abel reinstated from the Development List.  RHP Blaine Knightreturned from minor league rehab assignment and reinstated from the 7-day IL.  INF Nick Podkul reinstated from the Development List.  LHP Kolby Allard has been optioned to Lehigh Valley.  RHP Max Lazar and OF Cal Stevenson have had their contracts selected (to Philadelphia).   RHP Max Castillo and 1B Darick Hall have been designated for assignment.
