9/3/23 : Minor League Roundup

International League ( AAA ) -  Lehigh Valley 9 (35-22, 71-59) Syracuse 2 (19-36, 52-77)

Allentown, PA - Coca-Cola Park


Summary :


Weston Wilson homered in the first inning.  Darick Hall and Simon Muzziotti walked, a single by Aramis Garcia scored Hall.


Weston Wilson hit a three run home run in the second inning.


Weston Wilson doubled in the fifth inning and scored on a double by Matt Kroon.


Danny Mendick and Daniel Palka hit back to back home runs for Syracuse in the sixth inning.


Kody Clemens homered in the seventh inning.


Jim Haley and Brewer Hicklen singled in the eighth inning,  Weston Wilson reached on an error to score a run.  Darick Hall singled to score another.


On the Hill :


Nick Nelson pitched six innings, two runs, three hits, two walks, eight strikeouts. Jeremy Walker pitched a scoreless inning, one hit.  Hector Perez struck out the side in an impressive and perfect eighth inning. Ben Bowden closed it out with a perfect ninth inning, one strikeout.


At the Bat :


Weston Wilson homered twice (28 and 29) and doubled. Matt Kroon had two hits including a double.  Jim Haley, Darick Hall and Brewer Hicklen each had two hits.  Kody Clemens homered.



Eastern League ( AA) -  New Hampshire 5 (24-30, 59-63) Reading 2 (26-31, 54-71)

Reading, PA - FirstEnergy Stadium


Summary :


New Hampshire scored three runs in the fourth inning on home runs by Will Robertson and Riley Tirotta.


Cody Roberts homered in the fifth inning.


New Hampshire scored two runs in the sixth inning on a single, two errors and a sac fly.


Oliver Dunn walked in the sixth, Jhailyn Ortiz singled. Madison Stokes singled to score Dunn.


On the Hill :


Josh Hendrickson pitched six innings, five runs - three earned, seven hits, two walks, two strikeouts.  Carlos Francisco pitched a scoreless frame, one walk, one strikeout.  Tristan Garnett pitched an inning, no runs, one hit, two strikeouts.  Orion Kerkering pitched a perfect inning, one strikeout.


At the Bat :


Baron Radcliff and Pedro Martinez each doubled.  Cody Roberts homered.



South Atlantic League ( High A ) - Jersey Shore 7 (34-26, 69-56) Aberdeen 6 (28-31, 60-63)

Lakewood, NJ - ShoreTown Ballpark


Summary :


Last home game of the regular season.


Three singles and a ground out scored a run for Aberdeen in the first inning.


Justin Crawford, Leandro Pineda and Caleb Ricketts singled in the bottom of the first, Felix Reyes hit a sac fly to score a run.


Gabriel Rincones Jr doubled in the third inning, he advanced to third on a single by Caleb Ricketts and scored on a sac fly by Felix Reyes.


A walk and three singles scored a run for Aberdeen in the sixth inning.


Erison Placencia homered for Aberdeen in the seventh inning.  Samuel Basallo hit a two run home run, his third homer in the last two days.


The BlueClaws loaded the bases in the bottom of the 8th, singles by Caleb Ricketts and Felix Reyes and a walk by Cole Moore.  Otto Kemp hit a sac fly to score a run.


Two walks and a single scored a run for Aberdeen in the ninth inning.


Justin Crawford was hit by a pitch to lead off the bottom of the ninth, Gabriel Rincones Jr singled and Leandro Pineda walked.

Caleb Ricketts grounded out to score a run.  Felix “El Gato” Reyes absolutely crushed a ball well over the left field fence for a walk off three run home run!


On the Hill :


Rafael Marcano pitched six innings, two runs, seven hits, one walk, six strikeouts.  Carlos Betancourt pitched an inning, one run, one hit, one strikeout.  Cam Wynne pitched an inning, two runs, two hits, one walk, one strikeout.  Matt Russell pitched an inning, one run, one hit, three walks-one intentional.


At the Bat :


Felix Reyes singled, homered and posted five RBIs, the young man just drives in runs!  Caleb Ricketts had three hits,  Gabriel Rincones Jr singled and doubled.  Leandro Pineda drew three walks.




Florida State League ( Low A )  Clearwater 3 (32-27, 76-48) Fort Myers 2 (31-28, 65-60)

Clearwater, FL - BayCare Ballpark


Summary :


Last home game of the regular season, we attended this one.


Fort Myers scored a run in the third inning on a single, stolen base, walk and then double steal (second and home) with the run scoring before the relay throw from second base returned homer.


Jared Thomas was hit by a pitch in the fifth, he scored on an inside the park home run by Troy Schreffler when his line drive hit got the ball stuck under the right center field fence, he circled before the fielder dislodged it and threw it in.  Trent Farquhar walked and Raylin Heredia singled, they moved up a base on a balk. Chad Castillo hit a sac fly to score Farquhar.


Fort Myers scored a run in the eighth inning on a walk, two groundout advancements and a single.


On the Hill :


Ezequiel Ventura pitched very well, six innings, one run, two hits, one walk, four strikeouts.  Hunter Loyd pitched a scoreless inning, one walk, one strikeout.  Daniel Harper went an inning, one run, one hit, one walk, one strikeout.  Josh Bortka closed - one inning, no runs, one hit, one strikeout.


At the Bat :


Troy Schreffler had two hits (single & HR).  Keaton Anthony singled and walked twice. The team had five hits total.



System Transactions :


Lehigh Valley : Returned INF Matt Kroon from his minor league rehab assignment and reinstated him from the 7-day IL.  RHP Braden Zarbnisky has been released.


Jersey Shore : LHP Wesley Moore placed on the 7-day IL
