A summary of results and standouts from the past week in the Phillies minor league system.
Lehigh Valley :
The IronPigs went 1-4 in Buffalo, they are 63-70 overall and 29-31 in the second half. Outfielder Carlos De La Cruz went 6 for 17v with a home run. Scott Kingery was also 6 for 17, he had three doubles. Outfielder Marcus Lee Sang was 3 for 9 with three runs scored in two games after his promotion from Reading on 9/5/24. RHP Alan Rangel made two relief appearances (5.1 IP) allowing two runs (one earned) and striking out six batters.
Reading :
Reading went 2-4 hosting Erie, they are 56-75 overall and 25-38 in the second half. Outfielder Justin Crawford went 9 for 19 with 5 runs scored and 3 stolen bases. Infielder Robert Moore was 6 for 16 and outfielder Cade Fergus was 4 for 14 with 2 home runs and 4 RBIs. LHP Tristan Garnett (2 IP, 5 K’s), RHP Tommy McCollum (4 IP, 8 K’s), LHP Wesley Moore (3 IP) and RHP Andrew Baker (3.1 IP) each made two scoreless relief appearances. RHP Cristian Hernandez made three relief appearances (3 IP, 1 R).
Jersey Shore :
The BlueClaws went 4-2 at Aberdeen, they finished the year 74-58 overall and 36-30 in the second half. Keaton Anthony went 9 for 14 in three games with a double, home run and 5 RBIs before being promoted to Reading on Friday. Shortstop Bryan Rincon went 4 for 11, outfielder Jordan Viars 6 for 17 with 2 home runs and 5 RBIs, outfielder Hendry Mendez 7 for 21 with a home run and 4 RBIs. First baseman Felix Reyes went 7 for 20, outfielder Pierce Bennett 6 for 14 and outfielder Troy Schreffler 6 for 16. RHP Braydon Tucker pitched seven scoreless innings striking out eight batters in his start on Saturday. RHP Luke Russo pitched six scoreless innings in his start striking out six batters. RHP Gunner Mayer made two scoreless appearances (3.2 IP) with four strikeouts. RHP Brandon Beckel (4.1 IP, 9 K’s), RHP Alex Garbrick (2 IP) and RHP Paxton Thompson (2 IP) each pitched in relief twice - RHP Jack Dallas also made two relief appearances (4.1 IP, 1 R, 5 K’s).
Clearwater :
The Threshers went 3-2 hosting St Lucie, they finish the regular season 64-63 overall and 21-40 in the second half. RHP Danyony Pulido pitched five scoreless innings in his start on Thursday. Infielder Carson DeMartini went 6 for 14 with a triple. Catcher Eduardo Tait was 3 for 8 with a double and 3 RBIs while second baseman Devin Saltiban was 3 for 10 with a double and home run. Outfielder Avery Owusu-Asiedu was 4 for 14 with 2 home runs and 4 RBIs. RHP Reese Dutton and RHP Orlando Gonzalez each pitched three scoreless innings in their appearance during the week.
Injury Updates (rehab group at the complex) :
Multiple players continue to work towards returning to game action at the complex under the guidance of the rehab team. A live bullpen was thrown by Andrew Painter and side sessions by Spencer Turnbull, Rainy Mota and Marty Gair.
Dominican Fall Instructs
Camp began on Monday - a couple of intra-squad games were played during the week - 53 players are participating.
