An inside look at the Phillies top prospects.

RHP Enyel De Los Santos
Phillies # 8 prospect according to MLB.com … 24 years old … signed 7/17/2014 by the Seattle Mainers ... acquired by Phillies in trade with San Diego for SS Freddy Galvis on 12/15/2017 ... from San Pedro De Marcoris, Dominican Republic
Enyel is a power arm that has been generally dominant in his two seasons at Triple A Lehigh Valley ... he’s made 41 starts as an Iron Pig and has posted a 3.24 ERA in 130 IP with 193 strikeouts.
The FB is the strongest pitch for Enyel as he can pop the mitt in the 97-98 range, he’s also got a power slider and a change up ( good arm slot but inconsistent ). He’s an intimidating presence at 6’3” 170 - Adonis like ... the facial scowl he usually displays on the bump plays into that mantra. Off the field he’s a popular teammate and generally approachable ... is a serious study though and limits distractions.
Projection : Enyel definitely has the tools to pitch in the big leagues and do quite well ... he needs to refine his command to truly excel rather than power his way thru ... I see him as a very good bullpen option that could even become a late inning asset ... when he’s on he can overpower hitters ... in short spurts the FB would seemingly play up even further than it does as a starter and the slider could be a wipeout pitch.
