Sunday, July 3rd : Minor League Roundup


International League ( AAA ) - Syracuse 5 ( 32-45 ) Lehigh Valley 4 ( 42-36 )


Syracuse, NY - NBT Bank Stadium


Summary :


Mark Vientos hit an RBI double for Syracuse in the 3rd inning.


Chris Sharpe singled in the 7th inning, stole second base and scored on a single by Dustin Peterson.


The benches cleared in the bottom of the 7th inning when Khalil Lee slid into Rafael Marchan’s ankles on a bases loaded force play at the plate. Marchan left the game with an apparent injury. Manager Anthony Contreras got tossed defending his player to the umpire - excellent to see him have Rafael’s back. Anthony was arguing that the runner at first should also be out for interference on Lee’s part.


Johneshwy doubled to score three runs after the bench clearing incident. They tacked on another run in the inning later.

Will Toffey & Dustin Peterson singled in the 9th inning, Donny Sands homered to score them.

Summary :


Chad Bell hit a home run for Somerset in the second inning.


Michael Beltre hit a three run home run for Somerset in the 4th inning.

AJ Graffanino tripled in the 4th inning and scored on a groundout by Simon Muzziotti.


Somerset scored two more in the 5th inning. Brandon Lockridge homered for them in the 6th inning.


Elijah Dunham homered for Somerset in the 8th inning.


Jack Conley homered in the bottom of the 8th.


Reading scored a run in the ninth on two walks and two ground outs.

Summary :

Ethan Wilson doubled in the 1st inning, he went to third base on a passed ball. Carlos De La Cruz was hit by a pitch. The two runners executed a double steal with Wilson scoring.


Jared Carr walked in the second inning, went to second on a wild pitch and scored on a double by Freylin Minyety.


Wilmington scored three runs in the 5th inning - Ricardo Mendez sliced a single to right field and went to third on a single by Kevin Strohschein. A balk call allowed Mendez to score. Drew Mendoza walked, Cole Daily doubled to score two runs.


Rixon Wingrove homered ( 6th of season ) in the seventh inning.


Wilmington scored the placed runner in the bottom of the 10th on an RBI single by Jordy Barley.


On The Hill :


RH Andrew Painter - 2 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 0 BB, 2 K’s - 28 pitches - 20 strikes - FB sat 96-98 mph, slider and curve also used

Ethan Wilson & Rixon Wingrove each had two hits. Wilson & Freylin Minyety doubled - Wingrove homered.


Notes :


Ethan Wilson made a nice running catch in foul territory down the right field line in the 5th inning.

Florida State League ( Low A ) - Lakeland 8 ( 38-36, 6-2 )- Clearwater 6 ( 37-37, 2-7 )


Clearwater, FL - BayCare BallPark


Summary :


Lakeland scored two runs in the second inning on three singles and a ground out.


Erick Brito doubled in the 3rd inning, moved to third base on a single by Luis Garcia and scored on a sacrifice fly out by Leandro Pineda.


Lakeland scored five runs in the 4th inning - key blow a two run home run by Manuel Sequera. They had four hits and one batter reached on an error in the frame.


Arturo DeFreitas walked in the 5th inning and advanced to third base on a double by Micah Yonamine. Erick Brito doubled to score DeFreitas. Luis Garcia walked to load the bases. Kendall Simmons tripled to score three runs. Nicolas Torres singled to score Simmons.


Lakeland scored a run in the 8th on a double, wild pitch and ground out.


Erick Brito singled in the bottom of the 9th, went to second base on a walk by Leandro Pineda. Marcus Lee Sang walked to load the bases. The Threshers stranded the bases loaded without scoring as the game ended.


On The Hill :
